Rolling hills

The property is beautiful. It can use some landscaping and TLC. The host was very accommodating with any issue. He always responded immediately. I vacationed with my husband and 2 grandchildren. The house is spacious and the pool was enjoyable.

Wooded Serenity

Our stay was pleasant and comfortable. The owner was super accommodating - addressing any problems or needs quickly. The property is quite interesting and the home reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style Homes. Beautiful in - ground pool which a few of the children got to enjoy. (Temps a bit too chilly for us coming from Florida). We had a family get together while there and were able to grill out and play corn hole - plenty of room for all to spread out. Location suited our needs as we were up in Illinois to spend time with family and friends. I understand the home is a work in progress with plans for some improvements ahead. Great place at a reasonable cost.

Tons of potential

When we arrived, the home was not ready for us. Unfortunately, we were unable to work out a good time for the cleaning crew to come. We had to turn them away when they did show up due to our plans. We were able to move items to a room we didn’t need and enjoy the rest of our stay. The owner is pleasant and very quick to respond. The place could use some repairs and cleaning but overall it is a beautiful place. Despite everything, I would recommend and would rent again.

Potential is there

The property has so much potential. There’s only one TV the upstairs bedrooms should be more with a king bed that bed is downstairs in the basement the second bedroom upstairs it’s just a full it’s not really set up for a family. The kitchen was nice and the master bathroom was nice. The pool is far away from the house and it was very cold. Make sure you bring bath towels there was only a few of them the Wi-Fi did not work. The property owner was nice and did reach out and try to make things work. He always checked in to see how the stay was going. The tv didn’t work because Wifi was out. it just needs some more furniture that is more family Friendly. The poperrty had potential. I would stay again if some work is put in

Never stayed

We arrived. Had a code to lock box- opened the door. The house -bathrooms and beds were clean. I opened the fridge and there was half eaten food left. I opened closets and was I supposed to hang my clothes next to the owners clothes? The back porch was not dog or children safe. The grass wasn’t cut and the pool wasn’t vacuumed. We put the keys back in lock box and left to stay in a hotel. I’ve lost 1366.00 but I didn’t feel safe for grandchildren or my dogs. I will never do this again. The owner was in contact and very nice but this was a vacation to visit family( I don’t have many vacation days) and we had plans. My plans were disrupted because of this. Everything should be ready!

Nice secluded house

Nice size house for a family. There were issues I was not expecting and told the owner about. I should of not been charged a cleaning fee as I had to clean it up before we could enjoy it. I found out we were the first people to rent it out. Some issues need attention. We did have a nice time though even with the issues.

Hodgepodge of knicknacks

The property was not accurately described in the listing. The pictures show the property as fairly bare, that was not the case. Every surface had so many decor items, it made it difficult to function. Feels like you are walking into an estate sale with a hodgepodge of knickknacks everywhere.We had to move everything because we were having a graduation party and i didnt want to be charged for something breaking due to the shear amount of items leaning against windows. No clear divide between the owners items and rental space. The only way into the lower level is the spiral stairs limiting the downstairs use or even taking the dogs to the backyard to run. Fenced in yard was not secure as the bungee cords did not stop the dogs from pushing it open. Downstairs shower had no water. I am definitely not pleased with the cost of the rental considering it wasn't really suitable to host a party as we had planned.

Bait & Switch

First and most importantly, not one picture represents the actual property. The exterior is a disgusting mess (there are 5 welcome mats scattered around the front door, all in various stages of decay or coated in pet hair), and the interior is packed with antiques, oddities and assorted other unexplainable items. The host seems nice, but when you walk in you get the feeling he just walked out. Toiletries sitting out, clothes out, food in the fridge. We had to rearrange clutter and clean. The place needs more than just a little TLC, it needs an overhaul. The lower-level carpeting has visible pee stains. The shower on that level does not work. Our family shared 1 shower because that’s all there is. The pool is not usable, the picture on VRBO is photoshopped. There is a wood (yes wood) ladder in the pool, with paint peeling. The chairs around the pool are rusted and gross. The exterior grounds have stuff everywhere that should be disposed of. The exterior is not safe for young children. I’m always hesitant to do these reviews, but I hope to save a future family of having to deal with what my family dealt with. We left a day early in our stay, once we secured accommodations.

Cluttered and rundown

The house was clean, but very run down and out of date. Scuff marks were on the walls. Furniture was either faded or uncomfortable. Master bedroom bed was hard and uncomfortable, and the windows filled the whole wall to the outside, but there were no blinds, so as soon as the sun was up, it woke up the people in the room. Only 2 towels were clean and the rest were in the dryer and there were only a few. There were dishes in the drainer and a dirty towel hanging in the bathroom. The pool was dirty and run down. Every spare surface was covered with knickknacks, so it was very hard to stay there with a young child who wanted to touch everything. The people who rent the place obviously live there, so their clothes were in the closets, so it was weird to try to hang up your own clothes Their toiletries were still in the bathroom, so we weren’t sure which were meant for guests and which were their own toiletries. My husband’s allergies were greatly bothering him because they have a dog that obviously lives in the house. The worst part was a ginormous elk head in the laundry/game room sitting on the floor. There was no extra toilet paper so I had to call the owner to bring some. He was very nice about doing so. The owner checked on us multiple times to see if we needed anything so that was really nice. However, we had no directions on how to check into the house or what we needed to do to check out of the house so that was confusing. Needs a LOT of updating and could be nice

Description deceiving

In town for ball tournament. . We found this home on and felt it would suit our needs. While the house was more than what we needed and the location was perfect for it looked like nothing in the photos shone. Started with us not receiving info on how to obtain entrance to the home. Took several attempts to contact someone to give us a code. Accessing WiFi was another issue. More times than not we could not access it in the home. The biggest factor was the cleanliness (or lack there of) of the home. Looked like no one had been there in quite some time. This is my biggest pet peeve when staying anywhere be it a home or hotel. You are paying a cleaning fee and the amount of dirt on and under things; dried food found on silverware in the drawer, on the backsplash, in the microwave and refrigerator made me wonder if the towels and sheets were clean. I had to pretty much clean before I felt comfortable enough. This has been discussed with the owner and adjustments made. Every home we have rented through VRBO has had a binder with info on how to use items in the home such as AC/Heat, TV, etc. restaurants and stores in the area. This had none. And when we went to take a shower...no hot water. My husband finally found that the water heater wasn't turned on! No gas tank for the grill. Had several calls to owner during our stay. Deck is nice but falling apart. Railing loose. Doors are loose. Safety is a concern
