Amazing Property & Great Unit

We loved our stay at this unit. The grounds are amazing. It’s a stunning property with amazing amenities in a great location. We loved being able to walk right out to the boardwalk for our morning run, hanging out at one of the many pools while being served by the duke’s staff and the close proximity to grocery stores and numerous other restaurants. The ocean view is also very pleasant to look out to from the lanai. We were so sad to leave and can’t wait to return. Thank you for having us!

Maui Fun

The property was very nice, well kept and stocked. The location was great with great amenities. But oddly, we had access to pools and hot tubs but not to the towels in the closets at the pools. Our key card worked for everything else but the towel closets. I was told we couldn't use them. When I tried to get it resolved through property manager, we had some communications but then they stopped responding. There were also two times during the night when the alarms went off in the building and there was never any explanation given; just announcements that things were okay that sounded like a recording. Everything else was great and we loved Maui!

Great Stay

Overall we had a great experience. The resort had everything we needed and we really enjoyed the pool and dukes restaurant. The location was perfect and it was easy to get around. The room was nice and what we were expecting, we just ran into a couple issues with the networks on the tv not working. Luckily we didn’t spend much time in the room.

Nice unit, could use a deep cleaning but over all it was good. Has boogie boards in the room which is nice. Had a few maintenance issues that were fix right away with a quick text.

Worst experience of all time

Booking thru vacasa/vrbo at the honua kai was the worst mistake ever. Communication was and is the worst I've even experienced. The local manager at tue maui office was the most patronizing flippant person I've ever dealt with that worked in the serive industry. Although they did finally reimburse me partially for the lack of proper info that led to my kids sleeping with no blankets, I've still yet to hear back from them regarding items left in the room which they will actually charge you just to look for the items. I've reached out multiple times via text, email, and still no response.

Honua Kai Konea Tower Stay

Overall a nice and economical place to stay. Room was as advertised and more comfortable than most of the bigger name resorts. Certainly more of a family/kids place. Pools & hot tubs were fine. Service provided pool side by Duke's. Would stay again

Solid but nothing spectacular

Unit was overall was "adequate". I can't call it excellent or spectacular but it gets the job done. Pros: - Pots and pans that don't stick (shocking for a rental) - Quiet overall (don't hear your neighbors) - Stays pretty cool (considering how hot it was) as the unit faces north Cons: - Far from elevator - View is mostly of a turnaround and parking lot. It gets noisy with garbage trucks for adjacent hotel and various cars coming and going. - Bed is on the very soft side - The unit is carpeted in the living area/bedroom which definitely feels salty and not clean - A very very uncomfortable and horribly worn-out sofa bed The property is family-oriented and kids everywhere. There are signs that clearly say you can't save chairs at the pool but apparently vacationers forget how to read. If you want a chair, you have to be out early because by 10am you won't find a single spot available. This unit is rented out by another property management group that I found were less than accommodating. We requested a slightly later checkout which then declined sighting a 6-hour covid window required between guests (haven't experienced this anywhere else with the pandemic) and when we asked for a crib or bassinet rental, they said we had to ask the hotel....and the hotel said this is something Vacasa handles. Plus, I had to email them a couple times to get a response so it was a bit of a frustrating experience.

Room needs some love.

The bathroom and kitchen are beautiful. Only complaint on the kitchen is that there was only 1 pot to cook with and no lid to fit on it. Other than that, it is fully stocked. It does have beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards and a pack and play in the closet. This room needs to be updated with new carpet, a deep cleaning or replacement of the couch and bar stools and some other detail items. There is mold on the ceiling indicating a leak, the lamp shades are all gross and the curtains are dirty. Some mols on the bedroom curtains. When we got to the room there was a very storm chemical cleaner smell... but that wore off after about a day and you can smell a musty/ light smokers smell in the unit. My husband was not happy about that part! Oh and you need to slam the washer to make it close properly to start. And don't expect a deep cleaning....Just a light wash. I had read a previous review (after I had already booked) and I tried reaching out many times to get a status update on the cleanliness of the room weeks before my trip. I never received any contact back with information, only that they were waiting to hear from the local management. This was disappointing. Over all the Honua Kai property is beautiful....but don't expect to play any music at the pool. Not allowed. This unit just needs to be updated and cleaned to a much higher standard for the price.

Great stay

Great stay, clean, easy access to beach and pools. Only problems we had was with the room safe and washing machine. The face front fell off the safe, not able to use and the washing machine did not work.

Perfect for our needs

This property is a gem and will recommend or stay again in the future. The kitchen within the unit lacked several basic supplies (bowls, dull knives) yet we made due.

Enjoyable, but...

Issues arose when we had an entire morning and part of the afternoon when some maintenance workers arrived unannounced, with no prior warning from the property managers, They had to cut out a section of wall to get to some plumbing because of issues the floors above us. We had no water, and could not use the kitchen and dining area. Only after they arrived did we get a belated call from the management. Also- only one wine glass in the whole place, and no cleaning supplies. Not even a second bar of soap to use at the bathroom sink in addition to the shower. The condo itself, however was nicely situated, and the beds clean and comfortable. As expected, considering we had stayed at Honua Kai before. The living room could have been a bit cleaner, though; stuff stuck to the carpet, etc.

Konea 446 Review

The property and view was great, the way the lanai opened up was spectacular, I loved that. The amenities provided was especially helpful. I would stay here time and time again if not for my KOR timeshare. We stayed for the week, it was not enough.
