Lac Sainte-Marie

This place is more like an apartment than a hotel. There’s no lobby but the communication with the manager was excellent. They send you a front door code and your room code. The room is new, with a kitchen and small living room and bedroom. The bathroom has a big shower along with a washer and dryer. They even provide laundry pods to do a few loads. The location is excellent. This is where you want to be if you’re a tourist. You’re in the middle of lots restaurants, bars, and shops. We plan to return to this location next year.

The property itself is beautiful, and our room was comfortable, which makes the service issues even more disappointing. Housekeeping was inconsistent from the start. Despite requesting service, no one came. After asking a housekeeper directly one day and then reporting that they never arrived, our room was finally serviced on the fourth day. Aside from that single visit, our garbage was never emptied, our towels were not replaced daily, and several advertised amenities were missing, including the sound machine, earplugs, tea towels, washcloths, and laundry detergent. I eventually had to take clean towels from the pool area myself. The biggest issue came on our last morning when we woke up to no running water. After emailing twice, I was told the city had shut off the water and there was nothing the hotel could do. Being unable to shower, flush the toilet, brush our teeth, or prepare breakfast is far more than an inconvenience—especially when we paid a premium for a suite with a full kitchen and laundry facilities. I requested a refund for one night's stay but received no response. After following up, I was told a manager would contact me. I've now been home for two days and still haven't heard from anyone. It's unfortunate because this property has so much potential. The accommodations were beautiful and comfortable, but the inconsistent housekeeping, missing amenities, poor communication, and lack of follow-up after a significant service failure left us disappointed.
