I can't say enough about our stay at Vincent's charming home. We spent two weeks here with three families and there was something for everyone. The wifi worked well for those of us who had to work and for kids who needed a bit of screen time between dips in the pool, playing in the yard, or searching for cats or sightings of Vincent's daughter's adorable pup. The older children were able to gain a sense of independence by walking to a few shops that were nearby -- they especially loved having a Mcdonald's so close when they needed a taste of home (with much less of the gross additives you find in the US! The adults could easily walk to many shops for necessities such as the large Intermarche to assemble our daily wine, baguette, and charcuterie boards. The property is super private feeling and quiet yet Vincent quickly responds to any questions or needs. The location is a great spot for exploring all the nearby towns and attractions and is super close to the center L'isle but just far enough away to feel a more relaxed pace. We loved L'isle and found it to be a charming village and we never tired of walking its streets and coming across new picturesque scenes. We were able to easily walk to a Michelin-rated restaurant, La Vivier, for a wonderful dinner on the river plus many other great dining spots. The markets in town are fantastic -- Sundays are wild so get there at 8 am and have a cappuccino before you start shopping. Thursday market in town is great. A few more things we enjoyed as Americans so used to our conveniences: great water pressure in the shower, cool A/C, a washing machine and a dishwasher. No dryer but we actually enjoyed the routine of line drying our clothes outside. For Americans traveling here, be sure to bring your own towels for the pool and be prepared to purchase hand soap, trash bags, dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, etc. as is typical in many European vacation rentals. Already dreaming of returning again!
