Impeccable service. Excellent Japanese breakfast although you have a choice of an English breakfast if you prefer that. Someone is always there to greet you and help you if you need directions or a taxi or anything else. The property is beautifully maintained. It is an older, beautiful building and very authentic. The garden outside our room was peaceful and beautiful. I enjoyed the public bath as well as our own wooden bathtub and shower. Tea was served to us every afternoon when we returned from our sightseeing. This place is a gem!

Perfect for a traditional experience. Great Japanese style breakfast was included in our stay although a western style was also available. Staff was wonderful. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is truely special and the authenticity is next level. The staff are warm and welcoming, so lovely to return to each day - especially how they prepared tea and hot towels on our arrival. They organised an amazing massage for me, which was the perfect start to the Kyoto leg of our journey. This is Kyotos hidden secret.

This ryokan is really special. We had an amazing first night in Kyoto. Everything from the service to the food was top notch. Our attendant was very kind and helpful. The dinner was so beautiful and well presented. I felt so relaxed spending time here. The pictures don’t do it full justice- it is really beautiful. If you are looking for a traditional Japanese inn experience away from the touristy insanity- this is the spot.

The breakfast was great - Japanese and western options both available. The staff was truly wonderful, greeting us with tea when we returned in the evening. The location was convenient to transit. I would definitely stay here again.

We only stayed one night because of the price but we had a nice, pleasant stay. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The staff was professional and welcoming. The room was authentic and clean with tatami beds (comfortable), I also enjoyed the Japanese breakfast and the public bath ( I was the only one there). I recommend this place if the buget permits.

This was our first time staying at a ryokan, and it did not disappoint! All of the staff were incredibly attentive, warm, and friendly. It is definitely on the pricier side, but the attention to detail from the moment you arrive makes it completely worth it. You can really feel the care and thought that goes into every part of the experience. We stayed for two nights and booked the kaiseki dinner and traditional Japanese-style breakfast. They changed the menu between the two days, which made each meal feel like a completely different experience—and neither disappointed! The room was beautifully traditional Japanese with a subtle touch of European style, which made it feel so unique. We also loved the public bathhouse. If you time it right, there’s hardly anyone there, so it almost feels like you have the entire bath to yourself. It made the whole experience feel incredibly peaceful and private. 10/10, we would absolutely do this again! We already miss the staff and this beautiful place. Such a special experience for our first ryokan stay!
