  • Welcome to Honu He'e Nalu, The Surfing Turtle, our family's personal beachfront vacation home in the heart of Poipu, Kauai.



    Wake up to floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping, unobstructed ocean and mountain views, and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. This remodeled, light-filled condo blends boho-luxury comfort with true beachfront living, mini-split AC in every room, and space for up to 6 guests.



    THE LOCATION

    Brennecke's Beach is just a 2.5-minute walk from the front door, where you can watch the honu surfing in the waves. Poipu Beach, one of Kauai's best snorkeling spots, is just another 2 minutes down the sand. At sunset, head down to the beach to watch the turtles come ashore for the night, and you'll often spot monk seals resting on the sand (please keep at least 50 feet away. It's the law and it protects these endangered animals).



    THE SPACE

    An open living and dining area framed by those ocean views, a fully equipped kitchen for easy meals after beach days, and a private lanai made for morning coffee and sunset views. The remodel keeps everything bright, comfortable, and ready for a real Kauai stay, not a cookie-cutter rental.



    BEDROOMS & BATHS

    Two bedrooms, each with a king bed, plus 3 bathrooms (2 full, 1 half). The bedrooms comfortably sleep 4. For a 5th or 6th guest, the living area sofa has bedding provided (it is not a pull-out), or we can set up an inflatable mattress if you prefer. Just message us before arrival.



    OUTDOOR & RESORT

    Two resort-style pools are steps away, including the exclusive Manualoha oceanfront pool, plus a hot tub, waterfall wading pool, and tennis and pickleball courts. Gas BBQs are nearby on the grounds. Poipu Beach Athletic Club access is included for up to 5 guests (a 6th guest at the club at the same time would need the club's day pass). Beach gear is ready for you.



    GUEST ACCESS

    You have the entire condo except two locked owner's closets, plus access to the Manualoha pool and the Poipu Kai pool and hot tub. The Poipu Kai tennis club is available for a small fee payable to the club.



    WE'RE HERE TO HELP

    This is our family's home away from home. We were married on Shipwreck Beach and have been bringing our kids to Poipu for years. We're an Airbnb Superhost and Guest Favorite, and we love sharing restaurant picks and local gems. Message us with any questions about dates or the island. We'd love to host you!



    KITCHEN & COMFORTS

    The fully equipped kitchen has everything for home-cooked meals, including a stove, oven, toaster, dishwasher, microwave, blender, rice maker, coffee maker, and pantry basics. Mini-split AC and ceiling fans keep every room comfortable, and the in-unit washer and dryer make it easy to pack light. Wi-Fi and a smart TV with cable are there for a quiet night in, plus a few books for lanai reading.



    TRAVELING WITH LITTLE ONES

    We remember how much we appreciated vacation rentals that were ready for little ones when our kids were small, so the condo has a high chair, a pack and play, a baby gate, children's dishes, toys, and room-darkening shades for naps. Little swimmers love Baby Beach at Poipu Beach, with calm, very shallow, sandy water, plus the waterfall wading pool at the main Poipu Kai pool area and the Poipu Beach Athletic Club pool, which has a sandy beach entrance and a little water slide.



    GOOD TO KNOW

    • Check-in is 4 PM and checkout is 10 AM, with easy keypad self check-in.

    • Free parking right in front of the condo.

    • Lounge chairs are by the pool just outside the door.

    • There's no dedicated desk, but the lanai and the dining table, both with ocean views, are our favorite spots to sit down and get some work done.

    • Sorry, no pets, per HOA rules.

2nd visit- just as grwat

We love this spot! The location is PERFECT and private, the house is cozy and clean, and Jeff & Kimberly are incredibly easy to communicate with. Will always stay here when we visit Kauai!

Spring Break

My family and I loved our trip to Kauai! Our stay was amazing and there was plenty of room for the four of us. The location was great and walkable to the nicest beaches on the south shore. The property managers were awesome with recommendations and always responded promptly. We hope to visit again :)

Incomparable stay. Great hosts.

Jeff & Kimberly’s home was unlike any VRBO we’ve stayed in. The home was immaculate, location unbeatable, quiet neighborhood, and easy communication with the 2 of them. It was ann easy stay with our 2 young kids. The extra amenities provided in the home made the stay extra comfortable and easy. This was one of our favorite homes we’ve ever stayed in!

A perfect beach getaway

The Surfing Turtle is a beautiful home and truly made our beach vacation exceptional! We especially appreciated having A/C at night — while it does cool off naturally, the added comfort was a nice touch. The house was thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a full day at the beach — chairs, umbrellas, toys, and more. It made heading out so easy and enjoyable! The location is perfect — just a short, easy walk to great restaurants and shopping. Jeff and Kimberly were incredibly kind and responsive throughout our stay, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this gem of a spot — we’d love to return!

Great family stay

Our teenagers love body boarding at Brennecke's, and we couldn't have asked for a better spot. We all loved the condo layout, the beautiful view, the close proximity to the pool and beach, 2.5 bathrooms, remodeled kitchen, super helpful owners and nice touches such as plenty of coffee, creamers, condiments and spices :) When our kids were little, we would have preferred the 1st floor , but now that they are grown, the layout of Manualoha #106 was perfect. We will definitely be back!

Ocean view and walk to the beach!

Jeff and Kimberly were great hosts, very easy to communicate with, answered all of my questions promptly. The condo was great, with an ocean view and plenty of space for our family of four. We walked to the beach. We played tennis on the property. We swam at the pool. We ate dinner on the balcony looking at the ocean. We slept to the sound of waves breaking. Great vacation, great location. Easy walk or drive to the Starbucks was a plus! Highly recommend!

Amazing Poipu Location!

Jeff & Kimberly were wonderful and hospitable hosts! We really appreciated their excellent communication leading up to our trip and during our stay. They also provided a full list of recommendations that were very helpful. The condo is awesome! It has an awesome main living room, with full length windows and a patio to enjoy the stunning beach views! It is in an extremely convenient location, immediately adjacent to the pool and in walking distance to Brennecke's Beach and Poipu Beach. Thank you, Jeff & Kimberly! We hope to return soon!

Paradise

Loved this property!!! The location can't be beat and the views are spectacular. We spent the majority of our time on the upstairs lanai. The layout was perfect for two couples. Jeff & Kimberly were amazing hosts - very proactive and responsive to any questions we had before and during our trip. As there is only one true master bedroom, we did a mid-week switch and they recommended a mid-week cleaning which we took advantage of and very much appreciated! The cleaning lady was great and even left us a giant avocado from her garden to enjoy - which was amazing!!!! We're already trying to figure out when we can come back!!!

One of the best spots in Poipu

Manualoha 106 has to be one of the nicest places in to stay in Poipu Kai area. The unit probably has the very best view in the area. You are up high with direct view of Brennecke's beach with nicely landscaped common land in the foreground. The unit was recently remodeled with tasteful clean decor, brand new kitchen and new furniture. We cooked/grilled on three of our nights and were thrilled to have an extensive array of appliances, cookware, spices and staples already supplied. There is a clean brand-new extra large grill right outside the unit. We hosted some a few CEO clients and they were jealous of how nice are unit was. Coffee was supplied as was a top notch grinder and brew system. (Good coffee is critical to a good vacation.) You are right next to a quiet and nicely kept pool. There is tennis and pickleball adjacent to that. It's a short walk to the Hyatt, to the beach, to Puka Dog and Brennecke's Grill. You can park right in front of the unit. the unit comes with chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. Jeff and Kimberly are wonderful hosts. Communication was easy, responsive and frequent. They provided many nice unexpected touches to the visit. I would highly recommend--you don't need to look any further.

great location, great hosts

We stayed here during Winter Break in Feb 2023. The location was great. Weather was rainy while we were there and this location allowed us to make the best of the weather. Even when staying inside, the view was fantastic. When the weather cleared, it was a quick walk down to the beach. We could see the closest pool from the condo, so we could also see when chairs/tables were available, and we could easily pop down. The condo had everything we needed (including coffee grinder and necessities). Plenty of towels for beach, showers, cleaning off at the door, etc. Chairs and umbrellas too. 2.5 bathrooms helps make it very comfortable for everyone. There is also a business to rent snorkel gear right on the walk to the beach (and great snorkeling right there). Sea turtles were resting on the beach throughout our entire visit (more overnight, but also a few during the day). A few seals as well. Only issues we had were minor and were from the complex, not the owners. (only one working BBQ that was being used, we ended up using the oven instead). Close pool was unexpectedly locked for a day, but another pool was available. The owners are very responsive and answered questions right away. We would happily return here on a future visit to Poipu.

Honest review of a great location

This unit has a perfect location. Unobstructed view, steps to the ocean, walking distance to restaurants. It needs some updating. When we stayed in February 2023 it was not very clean. Reviews all gave it 5 stars for cleanliness. Paul's Place in Princeville where we stayed prior to Turtle was a 5 star. I am not sure how this unit got the same credentials First impression: outdoor stairs were covered with bird poop and dead bugs. The master bedroom has a view. The other looks on the parking lot. Beds are very comfortable The decor is dated. Tub is stained, shower door in master coated with soap film, toothpaste spatters on the cabinets. The stairs to the main floor are carpeted. At the foot of the stairs along the molding were piles of dead insects. (Not roaches). The banister was sticky. There was a plastic highchair in the living area. There is a sun screen for the ocean facing window. It was open when we arrived and the room was very hot. The A/C is not effective under these circumstances. Close the sun shade in the AM before leaving to keep it cool. The kitchen is well appointed and everything works well. We found dirty knives in the knife holder, fridge door was grubby. The upstairs windows had lots of finger and nose prints present. We contacted the owners who were very responsive. A woman came and cleaned after 2 days. We were refunded our cleaning fee and got a restaurant gift certificate. We would prefer honest reviews and a clean space.
