Weekend Stay In Keswick
Booked this cottage on a last minute deal and was blown away! Really cozy and homely feel, equipped and furnished to a high standard. Five minute walk to the lake, and fifteen minute walk into the centre of Keswick. Would definitely book this cottage again, lovely place.

We had a lovely stay in Tawny Cottage. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. We loved the open fire - it was spacious but also cosy! Easy access to beautiful scenery and walking. Thanks for a great Christmas stay.

Great New Year
We have stayed at Tawny Cottage previously and it met all expectations. On this occasion the refurb to the Kitchen only made things better. The cottage has all you need in terms of cooking, heating and even washing walking gear. The location is ideal for exploring the area on foot, car parking for two cars is a bonus .Do try the Farmers Arms if you get chance ,overall an excellent stay over the New Year.

Great location for exploring the Keswick area
Tawny cottage is clean, well equipped, and well located for exploring this area of the Lakes. It's walkable into Keswick so you don't need to take the car for shopping or pub trips and there is a great bus service from opposite The Chalet tearoom that takes you out to Buttermere via the starting points of many great walks! The Farmer's Arms is a welcoming pub - book in advance if it's peak times. And yeah, the bed is a bit hard and the parking a bit tight but overall a good, clean place to stay and we enjoyed it.

Want Cottage
Lovely cottage would stay again if visiting Keswick. The only thing is some games or dvds would have been nice considering how the weather can be. However it was excellent and comfortable. Be aware there are 2 separate parking spaces, we missed this until the last day.

Perfect cosy cottage in quiet village with walks from the door.
Tawny cottage in the quiet village of Portinscale was a perfect retreat. Warm, cosy and very comfortable with everything we needed for a relaxing break. Lovely walks from the door to Cat Bells and around Derwent water and also several lovely walks from Braithwaite were easily accessed without a trip in the car. Keswick is not far with its market and great independent shops. There is a fabulous cheese shop.
Portinscale has a pub just around the corner and a cafe further down the lane.
We would definitely return to this excellent holiday cottage. Thank you very much, we loved the Christmas welcome.
Really impressed with everything, needed nothing. Found a lovely walk into Keswick centre, about a mile away.

Tawny Cottage
Had a really lovely week once again in Portinscale , not stayed at Tawny cottage before , but excellent location , it was clean warm & comfortable. Great being so close to Farmers Arms for good food & just a short walk to Keswick town & we enjoyed a performance at the theatre.
We did find the parking just a bit tight . Also not a fan of the high bath to get In the shower nothing really to hold onto , probably fine if your younger & although we are a very fit older generation we found it just a bit tricky, but otherwise a lovely stay. Thank You

Short break Tawny Cottage, Portinscale
Delighted with the quality and cleanliness of property. Very well equipped kitchen. An anti-slip shower mat in the bath would be a useful addition.

Cosy Cottage
We have stayed in Tawny Cottage before and booked a last minute deal for over Christmas this year. The cottage is really cosy and welcoming, was decorated with lovely Christmas decorations with an extra treat bottle of Prosecco, is always warm and has everything you would need definitely a home from home. There is ample parking for 2 cars, a small garden area and a decked area with small table and chairs. It is in a quiet area with access to lots of local walks and within an easy stroll into Keswick. The local pub Farmers Arms is excellent, staff are great, lovely atmosphere and food is some of the best in Keswick area.

Overall very good
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage.
A couple of things would have made it better. It seemed very clean on the surface but we took our case down from the top of the wardrobe at the end of the week and it was very dusty, as we're some of the skirting boards. Also, I would have expected at least one spare toilet roll but we had to go out and buy some

A week at Tawny Cottage
A beautifully clean cottage with all mod cons. A small nest of tables in the lounge might be appreciated by future guests to place drinks while watching TV.
The new shallow steps at the bottom of the stairs coming out of the cottage are not obvious if you forget they are there as I did one afternoon, resulting in bruised knees. A sign saying "mind the steps' might be useful.
The modern bath is elevated on legs and I could not climb into it. A note on the website that the bathroom at Tawny Cottage may be unsuitable for elderly or disabled guests might be a good idea.
I would recommend this property to others if the above suggestions were implemented.

Autumn Break
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tawney Cottage in very pleasant part of the village and within walking distance to the pub
Unfortunately, access was a little difficult for my husband who is well into his 80’s
but if you are still active it would be excellent place to stay.
