When you book a stay at this hotel, you are automatically placed in a pet-friendly room — even if you're not traveling with a pet. This crucial detail is not disclosed during the booking process (I booked through Expedia) nor is it clearly indicated on the hotel’s website.
This is incredibly dangerous for guests with severe, life-threatening allergies to animals, like myself. Upon check-in, I was shocked to learn that all standard rooms are pet-friendly by default and that only their “premium” rooms are pet-free. When I voiced my concerns, the man at the front desk seemed completely confused and unsympathetic, even irritated that I was upset.
He repeatedly shifted blame onto me, insisting I should have called a week in advance to request a pet-free room. Why should the burden be on a guest to request something that should already be the default — especially if they're not traveling with a pet? This is completely backward. At most hotels, you must request a pet-friendly room and pay a fee, not the other way around.
After about 45 stressful minutes, another staff member thankfully stepped in and was able to move us to a “premium” pet-free room. I appreciated her help, but the experience as a whole was frustrating, stressful, and completely avoidable if the hotel were transparent during the booking process.
