Great little hotel

Just stayed one night on the way north. Food was excellent, service very friendly. Room a little dated but very nice and comfortable. The staff were amazing throughout.

The B&B rooms are not part of the Hotel and has none of the old manor style. Instead it’s villa which has not been renovated since the 90s, located in a nearby residential area. Worn down floors and broken toilet seats, those sort of things. Really great breakfast at the manor though, and the area was beautiful.

Beautiful and confusing Stay

Surroundings are amazing! And food is great! Staff a bit confused, and to be honest, they could’ve been a bit more service minded. The guest before us didn’t return the key to the room (real key, no cards), so we got the spare key. I really hope he’s not coming back, they said at the reception. I asked if there’s a possibility to change room, but they were fully booked. Same afternoon, he walked into our room, wounding what we were doing there 😟. Send him to the reception to clear things up. He’s got another room.( Fully booked?) After a very good dinner I asked, to be sure of no more surprises, that the key was returned, and was ensured of that. So I was a bit surprised in the morning, after breakfast, the door opens again without knocking. This time it was housekeeping, that’s been told we already checked out. So, long story short, I expect a bit more order of a hotel who’s slogan is “treats everyone like a king”.

The main hotel is beautiful and breakfast was wonderful. I ended up in the B&B which is a neighboring residential home that is fine but lacks character. I paid extra for a couple of hours in the spa which I really enjoyed.

Despite the historical charm of the estate, our allocation to the BnB building proved a significant letdown, feeling more akin to budget lodging than part of a high-end spa retreat. Beyond the estate's storied past, we were confronted with a litany of broken furnishings. Our room, even in the cool spring air, remained dimly lit and oppressively stuffy. The requirement for advance booking extended not only to the spa but also to the restaurant, where failing to do so was met with palpable disdain from the staff. Regrettably, the experience and culinary offerings were subpar and represented poor value for money.

An amazing oasis several hundred years old kept in a mint conditions opens up suddenly, as you approach the bridge leading to the property. The room we stayed was decorated with 18th century style furnishings, beautiful view of water, modern bath with beautiful details. The spa overlooking the water, both inside and outside, just added to the paradise feeling. Dinner was gourmet style, elegantly presented and delicious. A cave with one hundred year old champagne and wine recovered from a sea wrench has been beautifully arranged and worth a visit. A perfect destination for a celebration, as entering a different time capsule.
