Great location. Right on the ocean with easy access to anything you want to do. No central air, but the constant breeze means that's not a problem. I'd stay here again in a second.

Wonderful stay and amazing view

We loved our stay! the view from the porch is amazing and we enjoyed spending most of our time at the house on the porch and the waterfront. Being right on the water was so peaceful and we loved the sunsets every night. The property manager was lovely and she called us before our trip to make sure we had all of the information we needed to find the house and get in, which was great because we actually hadn't received the automatic email. The house had everything we needed including beach chairs, umbrella etc. If we ever go back to Kona we will stay there again - recommend it completely!

Slice of heaven from the first day to the last

We stayed over Christmas break 2024. We arrived and immediately checked out the beach. Saw the tide pools and turtles right away. We were sold. The water was not too rough because of the coral reef break. We usually stay on North shore of Oahu and water is not conducive to all ages and skill levels. This beach accommodated our youngest (9 yr old) to our oldest (70 yr old) and us in between, too!Turtles everyday, fish everyday, an eel on occasion… and whales almost everyday. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms functional. Plenty of towels and linens and toiletries. Fully stocked kitchen. We cooked our Christmas dinner after grocery shopping and didn’t ‘need’ anything that wasn’t there. Large washer and dryer, so next time, we won’t overpack! ;-)Saw the lava spewing from the active volcano, had malasadas from the truck up the road, ‘adopted’ a dog for the day from the humane society near Hilo, shopped farmers markets and resorts- did almost all we wanted to do… but anytime away from the house was time away from ‘our’ beach… and we loved the beach!!!We even went to the goodwill and lucked out and found a Christmas tree!!! A palm tree Christmas tree!!! And a wreath and some stockings! It was as close to a Christmas at home as we could make it! All for about 50 dollars! We dropped off our purchases back at the goodwill before heading home!We’re already trying to plan our next trip back, but the booking calendar is jam packed!We recommend this home 100%

Blue Makai

This is a classic Hawaii oceanfront home. If you're looking for modern, then this isn't for you. Reminds me of how the Big Island was when I was a child.... which is exactly what we were looking for. Was everything the listing shows it to be. Peaceful location. We would come back to this home again.

We had a great time. It's right on the ocean, the kitchen had everything we needed for some ambitious meals, and the sliding doors were a pleasure to operate.

Amazing Spot!

Loved every minute of our stay. Perfect location. Comfortable and well stocked house. Amazing customer service (shout out to Robbie). And spotless house. Can’t wait to go back.

Restorative retreat

Blue Makai was everything we were looking for -- private, beautiful, low key residential street. If you want to be near night life, music, or able to easily walk to dinner or shop at unique local businesses, etc, this is NOT the place for you. The closest places to really purchase food (the General Store is very bare bones) are malls with chain stores in big resorts that are almost 10 minute drive at minimum. That said, its isolation was part of what made it heaven for us. We loaded up on groceries and cooked IN every night, watching the sunset over the gorgeous ocean and lava rock. Terrific host, helpful check in, every desired amenity and incredible location on the water with tide pools, snorkeling and turtles right out the back door!

The best home!

I almost hate to leave this review, since I want to return again and again and don't want other people to book it up before me! This is the house I have been looking for in Hawaii. On the water, quiet, a real home. The kids played in the tide pools all day long, we ate every meal outside on the porch, and the management company was easy to work with and responsive. We have stayed in a lot of places in Hawaii (condos, homes, resorts) and this is by far my favorite. Hoping to return next year

Secluded beach retreat with lots of turtles

Great place to stay. There are loads of turtles on the beach every night and a few to swim with during the day. Very secluded, we saw 3 people all week. Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!

Turtle Beach

Our time in Hawaii at this home was perfect! Everything about it from the home itself, where is was located, incredible snorkeling beaches 5 minutes away and the friendly neighborhood market just down the street made our vacation amazing. But what was truly the highlight was the herd of 30 or more turtles that came to visit and frolic in the water right in front of the home! I can't say enough about our trip. Mary our contact person was spot on with her knowledge of the area and was available when we needed her. The huge porch of the home is where we spent all of our down time. With August being the hottest month the porch provided the shade and the ocean provided the breeze making it ideal for hanging out. And the beds are really comfortable and cozy. Okay I've said enough. Just book this place you won't regret it!!!

Awesome place

Great house

We stayed here for 3 weeks and we had a great time. The ocean is behind the house, the lawn is great for the kids to play and the house very comfortable for our family. A great find!
