"We stayed at this ryokan for 3 nights and we loved it there! It is family driven and has such a lovely and local feeling. Our room was big, authentic and had a really nice onsen. We received the best breakfast every morning, it was the best we ever had. We also had dinner there 1 night, and it was such an experience. "The property, staff, views, and location to trails are incredible. We did not realize that there is a 10-15 minute walk to the hotel from the bus stop with luggage. I would recommend contacting the hotel ahead of time to see if there are delivery options available. The hotel was able to transport our luggage to the bus stop upon check out for a small fee. Breakfast (including traditional Japanese options and a few western options) as well as a multi-course dinner are included. The private onsen was very enjoyable. However, we found the beds to be extremely firm and did not sleep well. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend."

"What an amazing stay! We loved every minute of our stay. The staff were amazing and so helpful and attentive. We loved the onsen and all the amenities that came with the hotel… free ice cream, ramen, mochi and saki were just some of the great things. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Thank you for an amazing magical stay in hirayu onsen, we will be back!"

"very nice hotel and everything is new. The onsen pool is small but water quality is high and very clean. The room is featured with modern designs and fairly new. Wifi is fast and bed is western style and very comfortale to sleep on. Dinner and breakfast are healthy and good. The service was best in class. Highly recommend this hotel."

"Okuhida Hot Spring Hirayukan is conveniently located, just a short and easy walk from the Hirayu Onsen bus terminal. A small shop beside the ryokan sells snacks and drinks, which is useful especially in the quieter evenings. Check in was smooth and the ryokan already had our Expedia reservations. As with most Japanese ryokan, copies of our passports were taken. We stayed in the Japanese Style Room, Sengakuso, Non Smoking (35 sqm). Footwear must be removed at the main lobby and changed to the in house slippers, in line with traditional ryokan customs. Our room was located some distance away from the main lobby and required climbing two flights of stairs, with no lift access. There were no shower facilities in the room, which is typical for many traditional ryokan. The onsen baths are located in the main building, and the male and female bathing areas are rotated once a day. Buffet dinner offered at Y4400 per person from 6pm. It was enjoyable and good value, with a wide selection including seafood. Each table is provided with two fuel stoves, and guests can choose between grilling, hotplate, or hotpot to cook the raw food. A nice touch is the free ramen served at the main lobby from 10pm to 10.30pm, perfect for a light supper after a soak in the onsen."
