Despite its nickname, “The Big Island,” Hawai'i Island is not so big that you can’t drive around it in a day. Casa de Emdeko is a convenient home base to explore the Kona Coast, with such attractions as snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay, the National Historical Park of Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, and of course, the many beautiful beaches. When you’ve had enough sunshine, head south to Volcanoes National Park, then spend some time exploring the historic city of Hilo. Drive-up the gorgeous Hamakua Coast, visiting waterfalls and valleys along the way. Stop for some lunch at Merriman’s or perhaps a farmers market in the ranching town of Waimea, then head home again to your cozy rental home at Casa de Emdeko.
