My family and I (six adults, two small kids and one baby) stayed at this beach house in July 2020. The two good things about this property were the location—right on a relatively quiet stretch of beachfront away from public access—and the layout of the property. Everyone had a decent sized room and the shared spaces fit all of us comfortably. The deck is newly refinished and nice, and even had a study gate up top, which was a lifesaver with a one year old. This house *could* be great. However, this house was old and dirty. Ward realty gave us a less than 24 hour heads up that we needed to check in later than initially stated and check out earlier than stated to allow for a more in depth cleaning due to covid cleaning. While this last minute change was irritating while trying to plan with small kids, we were comforted by the prospect that the house would be extra clean. That said, this house was filthy. It wasn’t even a level of clean that would be acceptable during non pandemic times—Visible mold in 2 of the 3 bathrooms, dirty dishes in the cabinets, crumbs on the old and stained and smelly carpet, and the elevator smelled as though someone had thrown up and peed in it (the cleaning crew threw an odor stick in there thinking it would mask the smell—it didn’t). Aside from the lack of proper cleaning, this house just isn’t well maintained. Whatever child has to sleep on the bottom bunks of the bunk beds will have the gross shredded felt part of the top mattress hanging down at least a foot into their face. The master bedroom had a hole in the wall from the door handle. Clearly someone took the time to put in a door stop but didn’t bother spending 1$ for a plate to cover up the hole. Lastly, the living room furniture is barely holding up—ill fitting and stained slipcovers on sofas that have down feathers sticking out of them every time you sit down. We were pretty disappointed with the inside of this house and will not be rebooking. Thankfully, we spent 99% of our time outside, which was lovely.
