This was one of our favorite places to stay in Scotland. The host and hostess went out of their way to be helpful and made it very warm and welcoming. The “little breakfast” was just right and they have both washers and dryers in the laundry (a big deal here!).
The only issue I found was the wifi was very random and would cut out often. Lorna and Karl were great hosts - very friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure to book for dinner as places can fill quickly
Owners are nice people with great service attitude. Everything worked as promised. Would be great to visit avain. Good beds, toilets, showers and common spaces. Beautiful environment, restaurants nearby. Recycling works. Alles gut..😊
Lorna and Karl are exceptional hosts: very welcoming and helpful. They really do make you feel at home. The hostel is very well equipped, clean, right on the beach and within walking distance of excellent restaurants (and a short drive to the local distillery!) The lounge is comfortable and roomy. The kitchen has everything you need to make your own meals. A self-serve buffet breakfast is also available. I highly recommend this hostel and would definitely stay here again, given the opportunity.
The staff are angels on earth! Karl helped me fix a ferry/bus schedule problem and saved me from being stranded across the island in the dark. Lorna saved me from another transportation oversight I made, connecting me with a taxi driver that kept me on schedule. Without them my whole trip to Islay would have been a disaster, but instead, it was wonderful! Oh, and the hostel is lovely, clean, informative, and peaceful.
Great place to stay right on the beach and under five minutes to a Spar and a whisky bar and good restaurant. The managers went above and beyond to make me comfortable get me the information that I needed. Beautiful views from the common rooms and kitchen. Bus stop 2-3min walk. Then only downside was the thin walls. It’s not their fault they had loud guests, but I was in my own room and still needed ear plus with the snoring and talking in the male dorm next door. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place on service and location alone.
