Tucked away on one of the more quiet islands of the Bocas del Toro province in Panama, there is an ecolodge called 'Cocovivo'. Through a long chain of friends of friends, I discovered this little paradise where peacefulness is key. Originally set up as a co-working space, the owners of Cocovivo made this place a home away from home. Set up with the help of an indigenous Ngobe-Guble family, everything is ecological: yes, that means a compost toilet. If that does not convince you yet, then maybe the possibility to kayak surrounded by dolphins will. Or you can practice yoga on your stand-up paddleboard. Or jump from the diving board right in the Caribbean sea and explore the reef. Or go on a jungle walk and count all the sloths you can see. Or eat delicious food made with very very local ingredients. Or see the stars in the sky reflected in the water bioluminescent plankton. Who needs Bocas' party scene when you have the 'disco' lights above and underneath you right? "An amazing stay, facilitated by fabulous hosts. The hosts began communicating about our upcoming stay several weeks in advance to arrange transportation to the property. We were met at the airport and taken to the lodge. The jungle house is very nice, well equipped with internet, kitchen, fan, full screen for an open air experience. Each morning and afternoon we were greeted by the sounds of birds. Unless you travel to another island you are limited to preparing your own dinner, or enjoying the reasonably priced and delicious selections each evening at the lodge. The provided breakfasts were wonderful, and reasonably priced upgrades are available. The hosts were always available, and it was quick and easy to communicate via WhatsApp. Arranging dinner, water taxi rides or excursions. Depending upon your room location there can be a number of stairs. Internet works okay, but would not be great if you need consistent high speed. Why would you want to be on the internet working, rather than enjoying the island life. LTE phone service is consistent. The screens and fan keep the room comfortable. Taxi’s to other islands are $5 to $10 per person each way. We enjoyed the quiet and natural feeling of this island, and traveled on excursions daily. We can’t wait to return! "
