About this property
G’s Home Away From Home
Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. Remodeled, 1960’s, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, nice deck. Guests will enjoy an attached 1 car garage and spacious backyard. Easy to find on the North Side of Iowa City less than a mile from I-80. Short drive to Hawkeye entertainment events and hospitals. Nestled in a friendly quiet neighborhood that provides for all your needs. Grocery store, gas stations, coffee shops, restaurants and park all nearby. Great spot for the traveler on the go.
Bedrooms are average sized as was the style in the 60’s. There are 2 queen beds and 1 full bed. Plenty of closet space for hanging clothes or storage. Clock radios, lamps, nightlights and charging stations in each bedroom. One 65” television in the living room and a smaller one in the large bedroom. LED lighted ceiling fans throughout. New appliances. Laundry room. Real hardwood floors in bedrooms. Tiled showers, keyless front entry as well as garage door keypad. 1 1/2 baths are on the main level. The other bathroom is in the basement. It is newly installed and private but the basement itself is not finished. Huge driveway for plenty of off street parking. Garage was built for 1960’s sized cars, so it is a bit short for large vehicles. Front yard is a great place to throw football or play any sport you wish. Overall I think you’ll be hard pressed to find another house this old in such great condition.
You will have access to most of the house and 1 stall of the 3 car garage. Basement is unfinished and I store a lot of cleaning and work supplies in a locked storage room. I put things up and out of the way, but kids are smart be aware of them if playing in the basement. There is a door going to the basement that can be closed and locked if you need.
I live just a few blocks away. As long as I’m around I can be there quickly if there’s a problem. Also have smart locks that I can open doors if you forget the code.
Nice middle class neighborhood. A mixture of all ages but mostly people in their 30’s and 40’s working hard and raising good kids.
Nice Quiet neighborhood. Safe to walk around and enjoy the fresh air. Parking on the street is allowed but not necessary because we have a huge driveway. Easily parks 4 cars
We have a ring doorbell at the front door, a ring camera outside by the garage, and one in the backyard for security reasons. There are no cameras or listening devices inside of the house.

This such an amazing place to stay. It is very clean and we saw deer and chipmunks in the back yard. We would definitely stay there again.
We were there for a short time, but loved the property! Very clean, with nice amenities including a coffee bar. Lots of outdoor space! Host was very responsive and friendly!
The house was very quiet, clean, spacious, very comfortable, and the hosts were immediately responsive when we contacted them. We loved the place and would definitely stay there again. It was centrally located to all our destinations, and the HyVee was a short walk away.
We had a great stay in this clean, beautiful home :)
The beds were comfortable, the living room was nice. Gorgeous kitchen. We traveled with my parents and my dad loved having the garage to be able to park the truck in. Thank you so much for letting us stay. Would highly recommend!!
Welcoming host - clean, easy location, nice kitchen & bathrooms - love the open common area
We met family for an overnight - all as hoped. Three bedrooms - 2 Queens plus one full/double bed. Lots of bathroom space. Great game-playing and eating table. Perfect for our needs! Thank you to our generous host!
This house was such a pleasant surprise!! We were in town for surgery of a family member and its convenience to the hospital was perfect. The space allowed us to come and go at the hospital and was great for me to get some work done in between. Comfortable beds and all the amenities of home.
We stayed while visiting our niece at the University of Iowa. There were 6 of us and the house was a perfect setting for our overnight trip. Easy to get to, in a nice neighborhood and super clean home. We had everything we needed at the house. Amenities were great! It was so nice being able to all stay together vs multiple over priced hotel rooms.
Highly recommend this home to anyone staying in Iowa city.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this property and its owners. Beautiful home, beautiful neighborhood, lots of peace and quiet. Owner Karen really went all out to make sure our stay was peaceful and comfortable. I especially loved the kitchen (equipped with high-tech equipment), which opened up to the living room, creating an open and spacious place to just hang out. The fenced in backyard was perfect for our little dog, as well. I wish I had taken more pictures, as it was really lovely! It truly was our oasis in the middle of a very chaotic family reunion!
This home was perfect for our family of four. The bedrooms were comfortable, clean, and spacious. The kitchen contained everything we needed for preparing meals. I especially appreciated the coffee and tea that was provided. The location was a nice, quiet setting and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and spotting wildlife. Communication with the host was timely and helpful. I definitely recommend this property to anyone staying in the area for any reason.
Karen was a fantastic host! I booked this stay for business colleagues traveling with their infant and grandmother, and she went above and beyond to accommodate them. She graciously allowed an early check-in to align with the baby’s nap schedule, making their arrival much smoother. Karen was professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend!
Our family booked a long weekend for my husband’s 50th birthday celebration. One of our daughters is a student at University of Iowa and it also happened to be their homecoming weekend. So we had plenty of activities to do in town, went to the parade and football game!! Also did an official college visit with our high school junior, she loved it!! The home was beautiful, super clean and had everything we needed!! High end finishes, gorgeous kitchen, thoughtful touches by the host such as coffee/creamer and complimentary apple cider shots. Yum! Lovely neighborhood, close by the University and plenty of shops and restaurants! Look forward to staying again in the future!!
My sisters and I had a wonderful weekend in Iowa City and really enjoyed this home! It is beautifully renovated and very spacious and open. The home was very clean and had most everything we needed (we did need to purchase a corkscrew which we left for future guests). Overall it was very comfortable, and we would definitely recommend it. The one downside that we noticed was that the listing is for a 2+ bath home and included pictures of three bathrooms including 2 showers, but there are only 2 bathrooms in the home. This did not affect us negatively as there were only 3 of us, but if we'd all been couples staying there with a party of 6 and expecting three baths with 2 showers, I can see how it could have been very inconvenient. Otherwise, super clean, and comfortable and nicely redone. Thank you for hosting us!
Perfect place for a family with pets. Peaceful neighborhood, great for walking the dog. We enjoyed the proximity to the downtown area, parks, coffee shop, and grocery store. The house was very well stocked with all the essentials. Highly recommend!
