About this property
Short walk to the lake!
Enjoy this cozy, air conditioned cottage 3/10ths of a mile from Lake Raystown. The house is new construction on a wooded 2.5 acres in a quiet neighborhood. Walk the path* to the lake with kayaks or paddle boards, your fishing poles, or just a beach towel and a good book. Bask in the peace and quiet of an evening spent on the deck overlooking the woods. Have fun exploring the woods and building forts, then enjoy roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. Drive ten minutes to the Allegrippas trail head to mountain bike or to Seven Points Marina to boat or go to the beach. It’s also only ten minutes to downtown Huntingdon and ten minutes to Snyder’s Run public boat launch.
This family friendly cottage features an open floor plan kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen is well appointed for those who like to cook, with bar seating for 2 and a table that expands to seat 8. There is a desk in the living room in case you need to work remotely and wifi to keep you connected. It sleeps 8, with 3 small but charming bedrooms, 2 with queen beds and one with twin bunk beds, and a queen pull out couch in the living room. There is a washer/dryer for your convenience. Laundry detergent is provided. When you need a break from swimming, fishing, and exploring, there are plenty of books, puzzles, and board games for all ages, as well as a smart TV, DVD player, and DVDs for all ages.
*Please note the path comes off the end of the road, where there is a cul-de-sac for parking. The path is maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. Due to the way Raystown Lake was created, the path to the lake is downhill, which means of course that the way back is uphill, and it is relatively steep at parts. This can be difficult for some people. If you would like easy access for kayaking, you can drive up and drop your kayak right on the beach at the Snyders Run Boat Launch, ~10 min away. The beach at Seven Points is free with free parking and offers more level entry for swimming, about 10 min in the other direction.
Sheets are NOT provided. A kitchen towel and dish cloth are provided, but other towels are NOT. We do provide mattress pads, pillows, quilts. We do provide starter paper towels and starter toilet paper, as well as trash bags, basic soaps (dish/hand) and laundry detergent.

We absolutely loved the house, had so many amenities. We enjoyed making small fires and sitting outside on the porch for dinner. Having the washer and dryer was amazing just in case it was needed. We will definitely book this house again. We love coming to Huntingdon, the house made our time even more special.
Nice weekend trip for riding the mountains
bike trails at Raystown lake. The cabin was clean, comfortable and close to all the raystown activities.
Grill and fire pit are a nice touch. I enjoyed drinking coffee on the deck. Also really close to the lake. Walkable down a freshly trimmed trail.
communication with our hosts was excellent, very helpful and quick response times. beautiful house/property and very clean. nice and quiet area.
as others have mentioned, path down to the lake is doable but certainly will be a little challenging for some. other beaches are a short drive away.
we had a great time and would definitely stay here again!
Cute property perfect for a family or group of friends that love the outdoors! Just a 10 minute walk from a beautiful lake which we used to paddle board. 20 minute drive from an amazing hiking trail called thousand steps. We had a wonderful stay and would do it again in a heartbeat. The property was perfect and the deck was my favorite part about the house. Thank you!
We really enjoyed our stay at Lakeside cottage. Great, location! Very short walk to the lake and little beach area. Close to everything. 10 minutes to Huntingdon, 10 minutes to Allegrippes trails, close to 7 points marina. The cottage is super clean, very nicely furnished and had everything we needed. The covered front porch was also a nice space for hanging out. The owners are fantastic. Very responsive and kind. My daughter goes to Juniata college and we stayed this weekend to provide a nice relaxing study space for her to prepare for finals and for us to stay while moving her out. Will definitely stay here again for other school events but also hoping to visit in the summertime. Thanks for a great stay!
We had 5 adults, 2 teenagers, and 1 child. We felt there was plenty of room for all of us. We stayed for 2 evenings and would have definitely stayed longer. Short Walk to the Lake was fully stocked with kitchen pans, utensils, and plates ect. Cleaning supplies were available and everything was labeled and directions were available for the TV ect. There were also many activities, toys and games available for visitors. We rented a Pontoon Boat at Raystown Lake for Friday and had a wonderful time. This house was close by to all the activities we wanted to do. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cute, clean place to stay for a few days!

My family and I had a great time staying here! Very clean, stocked with supplies and entertainment, and very close to fun activities around Raystown! The hosts were great!
Very nice property. Very well stocked except for Kleenex and tp paper. A little further to the lake than it looks on photos. But overall very niceThank you
Easy check in, quiet location. Good kitchen supplies. Wish we didnt have to bring sheets and towels. Long precise list of do's and don't s. No master bath. Just 2 bathrooms on the opposite side of the house from the bedrooms but with 4 teenage girls we managed. Nice fenced in yard and porch.
Great house, great location. My brother and I have stayed here multiple times on Mt bike trips and every time, we are beyond pleased with our stay. The deck is a great spot for a morning coffee and an afternoon beer. The house is close to town and the lake.
Thank you again.
The property was well maintained and very clean. It was great to sit on the back porch and enjoy the wind in the trees and listen to the birds. The fenced in backyard was perfect for the kids to run around! Also, my husband was very happy with the outside electric outlet where he was able to charge his Tesla.
Peaceful, lovely, home near the lake. Superior Hosts.
My family spent 4 wonderful nights at Lakeside lake house. There were 7 of us ranging from 2 to 65 years old.
Pre-planning and communication with Carin and Matt was outstanding. Carin was fantastic to work with and extremely responsive.
The house seems at first small, BUT the reality is, it has everything you need in a compact, pleasant space. Everything was neat and clean and NEW. We loved it.
The couches and beds were comfortable and beautiful. The appliances were top of the line. The kitchen island was so useful, especially having 2 stools my grandsons loved to sit at. The dining table and chairs were perfect as well.
Moving to the outside, the porch and porch furniture were perfect. We so enjoyed the fire pit every night. It was so nice of the owners to allow us to use their firewood.
The owners certainly have thought of everything to include in the home. It's nice when there are paper products there already. We played several of the games and even used some of the toys, once my grandsons discovered them.
Also nice that they provided information about activities and restaurants and the surrounding area.
While the description of the proximity to the lake was accurate in all the descriptions, it certainly was challenging, but we made it work. It did help to drive to the end of the road. And it was nice that we had the option of just walking down and getting to the lake. The water was clear and clean and we enjoyed a lot of time even swimming there.
NOTE - we rented a pontoon boat at the Marina, and good to know, we could drive right up to the spot at the end of the path near the house, and drop off or pick up people. We weren't sure about that as they had warnings about mile markers when you rent the boat, but it was super convenient.
You certainly will not be disappointed if you rent this lovely home. And you certainly will be happy to work with Carin and Matt.
Thank you for an excellent family vacation experience!!
