Short break with the dogs

Enjoyed our stay with our dogs. Very central to all amenities e.g. beach walks, shops etc. Great having a dining room where you could take the dogs into. Staff love dogs too so made a fuss of them. Will book again

The man on reception when I arrived was so lovely, and the lady on reception when I left was also lovely. The room was spacious & clean. The sea view was amazing. The room was warm and comfortable. Loved my solo stay.

Golden lion hotel Hunstanton

Lovely old hotel with sea views. The hotel is dog friendly and the staff were excellent with the dogs. The food was delicious and you could eat in the bar along with your dogs. Service was excellent and so were the staff. The only downside was there was no lift

Ideal location - personnelly we feel the price of the hotel is expensive for this hotel essp the sea view room we had very small cleanliness really needs addressing

Good choice

Excellent location. Hotel in process of updating and getting back on their feet after a recent change of ownership. Paring at an additional cost was not in my view warranted as parking on hotel grounds. Overall good value for money.

Lovely views but room a little tired.

Hotel is a bit ‘tired’ and our room needed a bit of TLC. The bed was comfy and the view was great but the overall decor and feel of the room didn’t match the price. Had we not used vouchers for some of the cost, we would have been disappointed.

Lovely old place

Cute hotel. I’ve been going to Hunstanton my whole life and always wondered what it’d be like to stay here. Yes, it’s old. Yes, it’s creaky and dated but that’s what I really liked about it. Breakfast was great for the price we paid. Beds comfy, nice and clean. I personally really liked it. I loved having a room overlooking the front green and the sea. It’s everything I expected it to be, Hunstanton is very sentimental to me and this place made it even more so.

Should be Amazing but

The Hotel is in a beautiful position with fabulous views of the sea. We had not been advised regarding booking parking and didn’t see it in info. There is also no blue badge parking out at the front of the hotel. On arrival check in staff were blunt and not friendly unfortunately. So not a great start. Room a good size, bed comfortable. Clean but needs a refurbishment as walls need painting and bringing up to a better standard. Staff in restaurant very nice, friendly and helpful. We met the night porter as returning late and he was very nice, chatty and helpful. Only stayed one night and room was expensive for what we got but all local prices hiked due to concerts on bank holiday. This should be an amazing place to stay building is impressive from outside and views. Check in staff need to be a more welcoming face of the hotel or at least the gentleman we had, and some areas need a refresh.

Lovely location

The hotel looks grand from the outside but needs a little TLC. It had just been taken over by a new company so info on website and in guestrooms was not up to date regarding breakfast and dinner service times and parking. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay.

The Golden Lion Hotel is in a great location in Hunstanton overlooking the green and just yards from the seafront. We stayed for one night and had a family room on the first floor which was large and airy with comfortable beds. The only downside was the very small tv which was no bigger than a laptop - far too small for such a large room. The bathroom was large but perhaps in need of a little tlc. Wi-fi in the room was very good - I was able to watch the Test Match on Sky on my iPad with no buffering!. The breakfast was good with a decent selection of items with the cooked breakfast being a pick and mix selection which you order from the staff and other items being help yourself. Service was quick and the food was served hot but staff were sometimes slow to replenish some of the items such as fruit, bread and plates!. The hotel has some resident parking spaces costing £6 per day but these are limited and you are advised to reserve a space in advance of your stay. There are some free parking spaces in front of the hotel but these fill up quickly. We found all of the staff in the hotel to be friendly and helpful. The Golden Lion Hotel is not luxurious but is nice Hotel in a great location. If we were to visit Hunstanton again we would definitely stay there.
