The hotel has a virtual reception desk, so you send copies of your passport/driving licence and proof of payment for insurance, which is an extra charge (which was not mentioned on booking.) The problem is uploading those documents produces a message saying "Congratulations! If you have correctly uploaded the required..your check in is complete." The result should be you're sent access codes for the front door and room key safe at check-in time. But if you haven't uploaded correctly, you're not told. On completing the upload process I got another reminder, so thinking something had gone wrong i did it again. When i arrived to check-in I hadn't received the codes. After twenty minutes in the rain, with another couple who had the same problem, I tried uploading again, with my driving licence instead of passport. I then received the codes - it may be the pic of my passport was unclear, but there was no feedback. If I'd known I could have sorted it out in advance. The couple had to access the concierge by WhatsApp to sort it out.
The next day i found the front door lock not working. The electronic lock had failed because batteries were low. I had to contact the concierge by WhatsApp, confirmed that was the problem and was told maintenance staff would be sent. I asked how long that would take but received no reply. A disabled lady in a wheelchair was also locked out. Fortunately a cleaner came and put the door on a latch. It stayed that way, i.e. unlocked, for over a day.
