Delightful riverview house with screened porches
Just minutes from Hot Springs, NC, Red Gate Cottage offers a peaceful stay overlooking the French Broad River. Blending modern comfort with vintage character, the cottage features carefully collected antiques and family pieces throughout the home. Quiet spaces to gather, read, cook, or simply enjoy the view can be found both inside and out.

Such an amazing gem of a place. Very clean, well stocked, nicely decorated and had absolutely everything we needed. The 3 bathrooms were appreciated as we were a group of gals. We enjoyed dinner on the screened porch by the river. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely rent here again.
This property is such a great getaway! Beautiful views with lots of peace and quiet. The home is clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The check-in/out process was super easy!
Family of five had a great time! Beautiful home that is well stocked and managed. Short distance to downtown Hot Springs, nice hiking trails and waterfalls. Only drawback was the lack of direct river access but that is solved by a 5 minute drive. Would stay again!
The perfect setting for 2 nights with friends. The house is beautiful as well as the scenery. The river is enough to lull you into a nap most anytime. Tubing on the river was fabulous. Will definitely return to do this again!
We came to get some much needed rest. We had planned to check out some trails in the area, but once there, we never left! The house was so cozy and comfortable. We could hear the river from the house. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed to cook our meals. I spent about an hour or two just soaking in the tub. It was perfect.
We came to town for a three day stay because our son was getting married at The Ridge. The wedding was awesome. All we needed was a place to stay that had three full bathrooms and beds for 5 adults. What we got was an awesome house that was right on the river. My wife and mother-in-law loved the sound of the river as we sat on the porch and by the fire pit. The beds are very comfortable, the bathrooms are great, and the house was very clean. We had a great time and would definitely stay at the property again.
We visited the cabin for Christmas and it was a peaceful step away from the busyness of everyday life. Beautiful views. We enjoyed walks along the river and reading books on the screened in porches. Even though it was cold, we enjoyed our chats around the fire pit.
The property is beautiful, clean and comfortable. It is well-appointed with most everything we need to make a delicious Christmas dinner.
Beyond the kitchen, the cabin had all the basics you would need... and not just one 'extra' roll of toilet paper, but plenty to last the entire visit. :)
Hosts were quick to respond.
We would definitely
The place was perfect! So clean and stocked with everything you need. The screened porches were our favorite along with the constant sound of the River. Will definitely be going back. Thank you for providing such a fantastic get away!!
We thoroughly enjoyed the house, the views, the town of Hot Springs and the river. The house is wonderfully stocked and very comfortable, and the evenings beside the river were fantastic. The town is eclectic and delightful and everyone is so hospitable. Everything was so relaxing - we couldn’t have enjoyed it more.
We loved our stay in this beautiful river home. The house is new, and the owners have thoughtfully outfitted it with everything a guest could need. My favorite part of my stay was enjoying coffee (or wine!) on one of the screened in porches overlooking the river. Wish I was there now!
One of the best rentals we have stayed in! Extremely clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Location feels private with amazing river views. Access to the river is limited at the house, but a short drive to the water isn't too bad. Downtown Hot Springs is so close and easy to get to. We will be back!
Wow! This place was immaculate and so well equipped.
We stayed over Thanksgiving and the kitchen was fully stocked with any and everything your need to make a fantastic meal.
The view of the French Broad River was ever-present, and gorgeous.
We took advantage of the gorgeous fire pit overlooking the River.
I highly recommend staying here!
I unfortunately did not get to go on my trip due to my friends unexpected illness. However, communication with the owner was very easy and they were understanding of our situation. When I re-plan my trip we plan to stay here.
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The house was beautiful and well supplied with all that we needed for our stay. The screen porch was well used by our group. Who needs a sound machine for sleeping when you have a river outside? Listening to the river flowing by was very soothing. The only part we didn't like was all the potholes we had to avoid to get to the house. Would highly recommend to anyone needing a tranquil place to stay.
This is a beautiful property in a gorgeous location. Communication with the host was great. Upon arrival, the house was exceptionally clean and very well equipped. The French Broad River is right across the road which offers a beautiful view with the peaceful sound of the flow. We enjoyed a fire every night in the fire pit. The 2 ways in and out to this property are fun to walk and explore if one wanted to. We will be back for sure
Beautiful French Country Cabin in an Incredible Location
The house is practically brand new, however that doesn't take away from its beautiful French country charm. The homeowner has terrific taste in every little detail of the property. It also comes well supplied with all the needed household utensils. The views and sounds of the river are so tranquil. We loved having fires in the firepit. There are some cool trails nearby and if you enjoy driving off road (or mountain biking) there is a very cool road down by paint rock. We loved it and would definitely stay again!
House is lovely. Parking was a problem and river road was VERY rough. Inconvenient and difficult unpack/ pack due to entrance being on far side of house from parking area.
The property is perfectly secluded, but easy jumping off point for the many day trips and hikes we took. We loved the song of the river outside the house. We never sat inside! The porch is wonderful and we brought wood from home and enjoyed a fire each evening. The house was immaculate and perfectly outfitted for our simple cooking. Everything was easy! Thank you!
