"We had a great time in Ghent. The apartment was small but clean and newly renovated. The location was a buzzy student area with lots of bars and fast food outlets, which was fun, but could get a little rowdy on weekend evenings. Buses into the centre or to the train station were a few minutes walk away. (Different directions) The Belgian people that we met were kind hearted and generous of spirit."

The steps to the apartment are steep, as people have mentioned, the bigger issue is that they’re uneven, so you suddenly meet a step that’s a lot deeper than the others, it’s not too bad going up, but be careful going down. On first glance the apartment is nice and it is well equipped. There were no instructions as to how to put the sofa bed up, or where to find the bedding, we did eventually find it. "C'était très bien facile pour se garer sur le parking parce que au centre ville de Gand c'est impossible. Il y a un bus qui vous amène au centre-ville c'est très pratique ou sinon un uber, c'est une dizaine d'euros. Les chambres sont très spacieuses et décorer avec beaucoup de goût. Petit déjeuner (petit) mais on a quand même trouvé de quoi déjeuner."

"We really enjoyed our stay at 1898 The Post. We stayed in a "Postcard" room, which was small but comfortable and very charmingly decorated. I don't know if all the Postcard rooms are laid out the same way, but ours had the shower/bathroom sink in an upstairs loft area, and the toilet in a separate small closet downstairs near the bed and desk. This was not a problem for us, but might be for others who have difficulty with stairs. Very convenient location near the Gravensteen Castle. We didn't avail ourselves of the breakfast, but we did have a drink in The Cobbler bar, which was very nice! The staff was very friendly and professional. Would recommend this hotel and Ghent generally to anyone visiting Belgium! "
