I came to Maui for a family emergency and I was genuinely pleased with the property. I have stayed at Kulakane many times before in other units. My parents live across the street so convenient access to their home is vital! I loved that the pool has been finished finally. ;) The bed is so comfortable and I really appreciate the closet area with extra storage. Woke up to beautiful ocean views every day. There was a fair amount of construction on the sea wall during my stay and at one point the water was turned off. I never contacted MPP but the property manager was extremely responsive to concerns and they were handled immediately. Twice the smoke detectors in other units were needing to be replaced!! The beeping was loud and they stopped it both times. I would love to stay at Kulakane again my family lives west side and it is a very beautiful property.

Saw the whales from the lanai

Lovely place. Perfect for our three night stay. The only downside was our upstairs neighbor was extremely noise. They were there on our days 2 and 3 and sounded like they were moving furniture and had a small pony running around upstairs.

Great view!

Great view! We didn’t get check in code so had to contact management when we arrived at the property at night. Fun, busy pool for kids. We snorkled right off the beach, and watched turtles swim by all day long. Condo was generally clean. Ceiling fans in bedroom and living room kept us cool enough during our stay in July.

Frequent visitors to Kulakane

We love Kulakane watching whales on the lanai and listening to the surf. This unit is furnished beautifully with a very comfortable king bed. Love the open kitchen counter but it sacrificed storage space, only a minor inconvenience. Easy check-in and departure.

No much good to say. Updated 1960. Beach access but no beach. Thought pool was a hot tub. Stove door broke. Owner had closet full of his / her clothes and other items. Office very seldom open. Nothing to do within walking distance and very little within driving distance. The one positive thing the view. Overpriced what not recommend.

Very nice property

Loved the property, super cute and quiet area with amazing views. Only issue we had was the toilet clogged and overflowed and had a huge disaster and had to used all our towels to clean it, and then had no towels till the next day at 11. Besides all that was an amazing time and great place to stay.

Paradise

Can’t beat THE VIEW! Condo was bright and clean! Our bed was SO comfortable! Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise how comfortable it was. Plenty of space to put our stuff. Fully stocked of everything we needed. Close to the pool entrance which was convenient. The site managers were friendly and helpful- first morning we woke to the chirp of low battery on smoke detectors. He came right up and took care of it. If you want to see turtles .. stay here!! They are out back all day long! I was mesmerized by them! At times there would be 5 or more at the same time! You can walk to coffee shops, farmers markets, food trucks and more. Yet it’s not a super busy area. Note it is Rocky outback and has limited beach when the tide is in. But back to my first line… THE VIEW!

The view guess on for days.

Great property sitting on Maui's west coast right between Lanai and Moloki. We lost count of the whales we saw breaching and playing in this breeding area. The complex is small and right at the water's edge. There's a group of folks who provide a conch seranade as they send the sun to bed. Centrally located to easily get to wherever and whatever you want to see or experience.

Lanai view superb-the rest of the condo not so much

I had to change my dates and the property manager was very accommodating. The property manager was quick to respond to texts and emails. However, getting problems not so good. It took nine days to get a new sunshade as an example. You expect a condo to be clean and fully functional. This one was neither. I hope the rest of the needed repairs will be completed before the next guest arrives.

These are extraordinary times. Too bad the stay at condo 211 wasn't.

Maui is wonderful and there were many good aspects to my stay at the condo. The view of the ocean from the lanai was amazing,the kitchen was updated, the bathroom was functional ,the bedroom was ok. But on the first night there my traveling companion pulled out the sofa bed and there was a big brown stain on the mattress pad. He folded it back up and just slept on the sofa. The next day I called the management office and Scott, who was on duty and very helpfu,l came over to investigate. When we took off the mattress cover there was a 2 foot diameter brown stain on the mattress itself! .Disgusting! He took the mattress cover away and came back with a zippered mattress container and another mattress cover. That was it. They gave me $50.00 visa gift card to compensate in the end. A full days refund would have been a better start.I think if the owner knew about this wouldn't they have wanted to replace the mattress right away?But they didn't. And how did this go unnoticed? They advertised that condo slept 4. Also the recliner chair was obviously very dated and worn as well. Unfortunately, the trip in general was overshadowed by the pandemic. I made the decision to go on this trip because at the time the restrictions on the insurance that I bought to cover my prepaid trip did not cover pandemics. So I was forced with a decision to take the trip or forfeit all my money. It was not until 2 days after I arrived that VRBO was honoring postponement of my funds for another trip. When we got to the condo I realized that the management office was off-site and would have to call them if I needed something while the onsite management helped most of the other condos. Not very convenient. In summary, I would stay at Kulekane condos again but NOT in 211 and NOT through VRBO.

A+ View for Whale Watching

Unit itself is dated, but has everything you need with a great view. Small bugs are present, as they are with most residences in Hawaii. Some reviews raised the issue of light coming into bedroom from parking lot. Windows are opaque, but sensitive sleepers may need eye coverage.

I wish I could give 1 star to keep others from staying here, & to keep this for myself, but I can't

This 5 star rating is true. From booking to checking out, this place is superb! Kulakane is conveniently located to everything in Maui. Management team was extremely communicative throughout and provided so much additional than your average room. There's a farmer's market & grocery store close by. This was my bf's first trip to the island and walked in saying "OMG, the view!" We're from Las Vegas and used to over the top resorts and needed some downtime. Being able to sit on the balcony, listening to the waves crashing was incredibly therapeutic for us both. Much like travelers to Maui, we are always in much need of some R&R. This condo provided just this. We kept to ourselves while onsite, didn't even open the closet until our last day. Mistake! Open the closet on your 1st day and you'll have all sorts of fun stuff! We had a big gap between landing and checking in, so we bought beach towels, which were provided like so many other items. You have just about everything you need there! Look beforehand, and spend your money on better souvenirs, just saying. They even have binoculars for whale watching, oh and conch shells to put your day to rest. This condo was perfect for us and our little getaway, we weren't ready to leave by any means, and were sad we had to. I'm already missing the chill mode of Maui and I just got home! Speaking of this, there were 2 negatives of this. 1st, having to leave, checkout was super easy though. 2nd the direct neighbors were a bit noisy. With everyone leaving windows/doors open, noise from neighbors are expected but they were a little excessive, not to the fault of this condo's owner. We felt like they may have lived their themselves. We would suggest to have earmuffs on children, if it was the owner of the neighboring condo. We still would return in a heartbeat to this exact room! Highly recommend this owner/property management team and will follow for other areas as well! I'm so glad someone told me to check out VRBO, and I stumbled across this perfect find! I am beyond ecstatic to have had the privilege of choosing this location and condo. Gorgeous and hope to stay here again and again!
