Great Hotel tucked away at the ocean

The Hotel and staff are excellent. The location is majestic. My only frustration was the required security checks every time one enters the property

Very relaxed atmosphere, however we didnt get the room we wanted even afyer booking well in advance. Addditionally, the shower did work. A pity given the scenery and the hotel setting.

The spa was closed the whole week and only open on weekend. Also they advertise the whale deck but they no longer provide the means to get there. So best they take that off. Otherwise was a pleasant stay with comfortable rooms.

Great price for Sunday stay but lack of amenities

We got a very good price and the room was spacious and comfortable. Odd layout for the rest. No lift to room so you need to seek help if lots of luggage and no use for disabled. No bar inside it’s a good 100 metres away. No meal on offer inside the hotel but room service or over at bar. General lack of staff at breakfast so no clean laid tables. Breakfast was good and lots to choose from.

The hotel unfortunately is a bit run down, neglected maintenance and during our stay they were renovating Spa (closed), Lifestyle Center (closed), phone system & water system (brownish at times) which is a lot at one time. We found the entry exit procedure extremely annoying, scan vehicle, scan drivers licence, call hotel to open barrier and when they don't pick up you're left there standing. Each and every time you leave! Also ocean view (at extra cost) from our room very debatable as the golf course in front is completely built with private houses. They are your view! Chairs on our balcony full of bird droppings and not cleaned during 3 day stay, swimming towels not delivered to pool and...also annoying you can't book anything to your room so need to carry your card at all times. All in all definitely not a 4 star experience.

Hotel is very tired! Shabby in places. Staff don’t seem that motivated ( with a couple of exceptions). Therefore it is very quiet here. Unbelievable for a 5 star hotel to only have a sports bar as evening dining option. Clubhouse reached only be shuttle and again no ‘nice’ dining option. Reviews are mainly poor and sadly I agree. Rooms very tired ( phones don’t work, carpets/curtains seen better days. Just feels empty and sad. Would not return or recommend to clients ( retired tour operators). Shame, it could be better. This should not be marketed as a 5 star product. It is far from it.

Needs maintenance

Water in all the rooms is brown and full of rust. We moved rooms due to water leaks and broken aircon. Place needs maintenance. Staff do the best they can and are very helpful but there is only so much they can do.

Great room - but overall poor hotel complex

The room was spacious and well decorated. Unfortunately the room overlooked a security gate and the staff were loud with thier banter and radios which was a bit of a distraction from the serene environment. The overall hotel estate is worn and tired, looks like it has not been maintained in years. We were there for one night and wanted to go to the bar/restaurant with the view of the ocean. We were told it was full and therefore had to eat in a “pub” type restaurant next to a security gate.

Ourbaai, wont be coming back soon

Very comfortable but the service is terrible. No bathrobes, no slippers, everything takes forever. Housekeeping is the worst. It took an hour to get 2 handtoowels, toilet roll and drinking water, which was not refreshed in the room. The next day our room was not seviced till 7pm, yes 7pm, after many phone calls and chatting with the manager. Breakfast is very good but be patient for coffee, milk etc. Dont waste your money paying extra for Oceanview, we were in room 249 and all we saw was bush with a glimmer of sea.

The second room we got (after being given a room miles away from the restaurant and hotel) smelled from someone having smoked in there. In the pillows, everything. The “Club” is a waste of time. The Club Lounge just has a coffee machine in it. Nothing else.Don’t bother paying extra for that. Get a room in the main hotel otherwise you will be waiting for the ONE golf cart to move people around. (In rain in our case.) If you had a room away from the main building and it was raining, you will get wet walking to your room, with slippery floors to get to your room, and even getting wet on the golf cart. Would never go there again. Did complain to move from the original room, but the smoking room we moved to we had to put up with as it was then 10 pm. Positive? Nice shower. Negative: strange typed up message about the tap water being brown (it was) but they gave no extra water for brushing teeth or anything. We were totally overcharged for taking the Club Room, so watch out. They shouldn’t offer something that isn’t there. It was just an empty room to sit in.

Ich weiß garnicht wo ich anfangen soll. Wir haben nach wenigen Minuten direkt wieder ausgecheckt da konnten und wollten wir nicht bleiben. Ganzes Zimmer voller fliegender Insekten. Abgewohnte beschädigte Einrichtung. Schalter hingen aus der Wand. Waschbecken lief nicht ab. Balkonmöbel waren nicht vorhanden wie bei Expedia beschrieben. Das Zimmer war die reinsten Katastrophe.

Die Anlage ist sehr heruntergekommen und in der Umgebung alles in Privatbesitz, sodass man sich überhaupt nicht frei bewegen konnte. Auch der ausgeschriebene Wanderweg endete an einem Bach. Außerdem hat ein Licht im Zimmer nicht funktioniert. Ansonsten war die Einrichtung im Zimmer gut. Die Beschilderung der Anlage war ungenügend, sodass man den richtigen Weg nicht direkt gefunden hat. Beim Frühstück kam am zweiten Morgen erst auf Nachfrage eine Bedienung, um die Getränkebestellung aufzunehmen. Der Service an der Rezeption war gut und freundlich.
