To say we were fooled by the listing would be an understatement. It's true that the house has been recently renovated, but not the entire house. The kitchen has been updated, as well as the floors throughout the house, but the bathroom and bedrooms have only received minor updates. The house still has old bones underneath, and you will feel it shortly after beginning your stay.
There was a pretty strong musty smell in the house from the moment we arrived. The house was moderately dirty upon arrival, particularly in the bathroom and bedrooms. Grime around the bathroom, hair in the bathroom drawers, small stains on the sheets and pillows, and an old dining room table that is chipping.
On the second night, I was awoke a couple times by what felt like a bug crawling on me, but I was groggy and didn't notice anything when I briefly looked. On the third day, our son discovered a roach in the bedroom closet. Gross! We then found a couple more in the living room area. That was it for us, and we decided it was time to get out. There was no amount of "cleaning" or "spraying" that was going to salvage our experience at this house for the remainder of the week.
We decided to find other living accommodations and reported the problems to the owner. The owner was responsive, but only provided excuses for why the roaches weren't a true problem (due to the weather, hadn't been reported before, etc.). The owner offered no additional assistance or refunds beyond indicating he would be communicating with a pest company. For us, it just wasn't worth spending the remainder of our vacation dealing with this. Just consider the position you'll find yourself in given similar circumstances before you think about staying here.
