"I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Carmel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location unbeatable especially if you come with a pet. In the morning I would just go get coffee next door (you get 15% discount for staying at hotel at Cafe Cielo) and walk to the grassy area within 5 min with my dog for a morning stroll. It’s right by the pier and the beach too and the hotel gives you a list of the restaurants you can get discounts or perks. The rooms don’t come with a microwave or fridge but the hotel has a few fridges that they can rotate, so I was lucky that they had one available for me. You can self-park nearby or use their valet parking. I choose to do valet, it was a little pricey but worth not having to deal with self-parking management over a few days. The hotel has nothing fancy but feels like a robust value with a history. The hallway carpet feels old but it does not have the older smell that you sometimes get in older places. It felt cozy. I would definitely stay there again. Front desk and valet staff were a gem. I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the place."

"We chose this hotel for its water front access and it did not disappoint. Valet parking came with a $50 fee but made things easy. Check-in was easy and our room was an ocean view with balcony. Not a very big balcony though with only room for 2 chairs. The hot AC condenser also blows on you out there so it might be uncomfortable during the summer. The room was a typical room with a decent size bathroom and shower. I would call this a mid grade hotel at best. The staff was nice and valets quick. Location to the Pier was worth it. 5 min walk or beach."
