The room was clean and surprisingly spacious. The kitchenette as a nice surprise, though I really didn't need it for my quick one-night stay. Check-in was efficient and the staff was super friendly. My wife appreciated that the hotel was one-floor (no hauling suitcases up flights of stairs). One minor downside was location--it is on the east edge of town, away from all the restaurants.
Check in was very easy. The room was very comfortable and spacious. It was like sleeping in a studio apartment. Bed was great and I slept very well. Best room in the $50 range I have had in a long time.
I am very amazed with the room I got, I was a bit nervous about it because of the price! I read some reviews and decided to go for it. I don't regret it. The bed was firm and so comfortable! Everything was clean and nice, the front desk girl was really nice, I actually appreciate that they rented the room I selected and got a different one that was actually more money and they didn't charge me because it wasn't my fault. I am definitely staying there. The outside is not fancy and basic but I really liked the room! The pillows were great!
Check in took far, far too long, likely due to the facility still relying on a paper ticket system, and a paper logbook for guests. Staff seemed confused and unable to complete process. The room was nice though!
The management was nice and gave me a refund so I went somewhere else.
I did not feel safe at all at Baltzell Hotel.
It's more of a place for traveling workmen than for single women.
The room smelled like sewer gas. There was no spot close to my room to park and I parked in front of a room on the opposite side of the lot. A person whose room was on that side of the lot complained to me but understood there was no available spot close to my room.

I wanted a place to stay while driving through, and this is a ‘get what you pay for’ kind of place. Cheap and convenient, but in dire need of some help. By far the dirtiest carpet I’ve ever seen. The bedding was clean. No soap or shampoo but decent towels. No curtains on the old school bathroom window. It was a passable place to sleep on the road.
