Our home is on Aotea Great Barrier Island, 30 minute flight North of Auckland athe head of the Hauraki Gulf. Forget your worries in this spacious and serene property. It is soo private and so quiet. It looks out over pasture and the local school to the ocean beyond.
The home and cabins are on 5 hectares, at the end of a private, gravel road, 5 minutes from Kaitoke Beach. The silence is breathtaking. The house is open on all sides to the sea, to the mountains, to the native bush; and did I mention there's a saltwater pool fed with filtered rainwater.
You will have access to all parts of the property; most of which is native bush. There is a small vegetable garden and new orchard. There are also two flat areas of lawn, extensive decks and a large outdoor paved courtyard on the southside adjacent to the pool.
Our place is centrally located on the island. We are close to the main surf beaches and good local eating spots. Tryphena harbour is 20 minutes drive to the south and Port Fitzroy is a 40 minute drive to the North.
Our home was built 2019 with a new 2 bedroom cabin added 2023. There is another separate cabin giving private separate rooms for family and friends.
The house has a large open plan living, dining and kitchen room. There is a bedroom and a bathroom next-door. The house has decks on 3 sides with a large courtyard on the side side with the pool on the west side.
The kitchen has a large gas 6 element, 2 oven and grill stove, a dishwasher, butler sink, fridge and a large kitchen island.
The swimming pool is rainwater supplied and treated with a saltwater system removing the chlorine taste!
There is internet with wireless supply to the house and cabins.
There is a separate laundry room, outdoor hot and cold shower and toilet.
The power is supplied by a solar system, water supply is filtered rainwater stored in 3 large tanks and the waste system is a bioletic system feeding the bush beyond the house.
The property is on a private road and elevated 40m above sea level. The road is gravel and needs a 4WD car to get up to our place, There are plenty available for hire on the island.
There are shops, medical centre, chemist and art gallery nearby.
