Entire Cabin: Step Back in Time at The Piney Lodge
Built in 1961, our tiny piney cabin is located in the heart of Grand County just on the edge of the charming and picturesque town of Grand Lake. Our rustic cabin has basic modern conveniences, mostly from the 60’s, to make for a wonderful mountain vacation experience. Although we invite you to fully unplug, Comcast/Xfinity WiFi and Basic Cable Television are available at the cabin as of January 2021.
Enter the cabin and enjoy a cozy living space with an open floor plan, including a small family room and kitchen in one main room. Enjoy our well stocked kitchen with spices and condiments, while watching the hummingbirds from the kitchen table. Two small bedrooms with blackout curtains are separated by a ¾ bathroom with a single Shower – one Queen bed and one Double bed. A second full bathroom with a Bathtub and Washer/Dryer is located off the mudroom for a little extra privacy or traffic overflow.
To truly appreciate the mountain experience, gather around our fire pit for an evening under the stars. Outside there is a gas BBQ grill on the deck and a gas fire pit down below. Grab one of our cozy throw blankets and sit on the deck to take in the fresh mountain air. Alternatively, snuggle up with a fire in our wood fireplace inside and enjoy the large windows looking out the front, perfect for viewing the breathtaking views and local wildlife.
We take great pride in offering a family friendly cabin. Our cabin offers a natural outdoor space. From our deck, our cabin is sure to provide the perfect mountain getaway for your family. The family room includes a sofa with a pullout sofa bed, two swivel chairs, a small TV, DVD player and a telephone with free local and long distance calls. WiFi and Basic Cable television are now available, and there is a small library of DVDs. You will find toys, puzzles, movies, games and books to entertain the kids. For the older kids and adults, you will find plenty of games and DVDs to select from to gather as a family and enjoy on evenings or rainy days.
We are conveniently located 5 minutes to downtown Grand Lake, 10 minutes to Rocky Mountain National Park, 10 minutes to Granby Ski Resort, 20 minutes to Hot Sulphur Springs, 45 minutes to Winter Park, and a breathtaking 2-hour drive from Denver. You will find all of Colorado’s amazing offerings, right at your doorstep. From hiking, mountain biking, golfing, fishing, wildlife viewing, soaking in the natural mineral hot springs, snow mobiling, ice fishing, cross-country and downhill skiing and snowboarding, everything is nearby.

Location is great! Clean, great amenities, nice place to stay!It advertises as for 6 adults. We had 3 adults and 3 teenagers. It felt a bit cramped. Other than that it was a great place to stay.
We had a marvelous stay in Grand Lake! It's only minutes away from RMNP which we visited just about everyday! The cabin is well kept and has every supply you will ever need! We spent every morning and evening on the beautiful porch looking at mountains! Moose walked across the road from us!Thank you to Heather and family for sharing this great experience with us!
Very clean and overall comfortable cabin with everything you need to enjoy staying put. We really enjoyed the front deck at night cooking out and looking at the stars.
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely cabin! Beautiful scenery and great location for us. The host decorated the cabin for our honeymoon and it was so sweet! Heather made the check in/check out process so easy. The cabin is just like the pictures and the mountains are even more perfect. Thank you for a lovely stay!
This property is conveniently located. We had no issues with anything at the cabin. It was the most well equipped place we’ve ever stayed at. Kitchen had everything we needed and more. Owner was responsive with answers to questions regarding local restaurants and other things to do. We would definitely stay again.
The place was very comfortable beautiful view my only complaint was that we are sensitive to smells and the air freshener was to much even after putting outside but other than that it was comfortable
This was a perfect place for our family to stay while we were gathering in the Grand Lake area from 3 different states. The location is outstanding being only 7 minutes from Grand Lake and 10 min from a top 5 most popular national park! The hosts were incredible and helped answer any questions we had very promptly as well as had a super well stocked house with those odds and ends you might need in the mountains. Will stay again if we have more family come from out of state.
Piney Lodge was so enjoyable, comfortable, well supplied and clean! We loved the view of the mountains from the cabin and balcony!
We could have sat the balcony all day, watching the mountains and the weather! We loved being so close to RMNP!The decor and pine paneling brought back great memories! The cabin is totally supplied with everything imaginable, especially the kitchen and spices! Thanks for an awesome stay in Grand Lake!
Came here with my dog for a 3-night stay. The cabin is really well-stocked with everything needed for cooking, showering, relaxing, even picnicking. The only thing one may need is a fan for white noise and air movement. The cabin is located at the end of a short road in a neighborhood, but it is quiet and no one was around. Nice wooded area in back of the house. I can see kids having a great time staying here. My dog had fun exploring. I would definitet stay here again.
The whole idea of coming to this part of the country is to enjoy the majesty of the outdoors and all it has to offer. But when it’s time for rest and relaxation, this is the place, an incomparable “base camp.”
Nestled in a fragrant pine grove at the doorstep of Rocky Mountain National Park, this cozy cottage was perfect for our small group. It is thoughtfully appointed in décor of the region, and in many ways just like home with so much supplied for cooking and dining and nights of restful sleep.
The front porch was a favorite of ours, and the backyard is a seemingly endless forest.
Beatifully situated a quarter mile off the main road with a stunning view of the divide . This was the second time this year we have stayed at this quaint cabin.Neatly tucked amongst pole pines where serenity abounds with a large deck you can spend lazy days and nights, doing absolutely nothing but observing nature.Moose , deer, birds, etc make brief vists should you be lucky . Two thumbs up for
peace and beauty. A great place to get away from it all.The cabin provides simple amenities for all ones needs, with plenty of space one can be content with. Its not fancy, smancy, but it sure feels like your at home!
We loved the retro vibe of this cabin. It was quaint and comfortable. Everything was as expected and my family enjoyed our quiet time here. The fort in the back was especially cool for my kids to explore.
Heather has been very kind and supportive of our requests on certain things during our stay. Cabin is conveniently located about 5-7 min drive to Grand lake
We loved our time at Rocky Mountain National Park and staying at this property. Everything was perfect for our family of 4, and the house was actually larger than I expected. We would definitely stay again!
