Great views, good location. Asking to take trash is much considering paying a cleaning fee. Recommend a tv in the master bedroom. Overall our stay was what we hoped for.

Nice, clean house right on the water. Both the kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. The view of the lake was beautiful.The stairs were no joke, but once you got down to the lake it's very peaceful.

This was a very nice place to stay! Very clean and has mostly everything you need! The stairs are rough! But worth it! The air conditioner got pretty hot at night but other than that it’s an excellent place to stay!

Beautiful Lakeview with Plenty of Activities

I came here with my partner and friends to celebrate my birthday. The host, Ed, was accommodating and responded to messages promptly. We loved being right on the lake and enjoyed the firepit in the backyard. The house had plenty of games (card games, board games, video games). Ed told us about a nearby farm called Spring Valley, where we tried horseback riding. I highly recommend visiting that farm (over 600 acres and great pricing)! The only thing that was offputting about our stay was the bath towels. They were white, but they all had some kind of pink stain on them. And the batteries in the TV remote were dead (thankfully, we had brought spares). Other than that, it was a lovely stay.

SML vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed this property.. very private and peaceful nature sounds.. the house was clean and adorable.. we cooked most of our meals and the fully stocked kitchen made it so nice! There was a lot of steps to get to the dock but honestly we loved it.. made for some great exercise while being on vacation. Would definitely book this place again!

Wondrous Workout

Between kayaking the cove, swimming and the 128 stairs from the house to the lake we all definitely got a great workout!! The house was clean and comfortable but the neighborhood getting to the house was not well kept at all. Having to haul off our own trash was not a desirable feature but overall a good stay.

Very peaceful and welcoming!!

Great floor plan with this home. Great setting, walk down the steps wasnt as bad as it looked and the dock area was very peaceful once you got down to it. Thanks for opening your home!! We had a blast!

Fun family Vacay!!!

My family and I had a great time here this week! The steps are NO JOKE but the views and water are fantastic!! It was great to have a gas grill and a campfire area on top of a well stocked kitchen. Everything was clean and well stocked. The AC is good and cold!! House is in a beautiful quiet and peaceful area. The best was watching the sunset on the first overlook deck, magical❤️

Lake is so relaxing

There are a lot of steps to take to the lake but once you get there it’s worth it! Place was very comfortable. The dump to take the trash is a lil bit away , 20 min so make sure you plan on that. We rented a boat from the Marina it was reasonable for the day and we had a beautiful day. It’s quiet and peaceful

Family Getaway

Check in was super easy. Property was clean and extremely well appointed. The view of the lake is amazing. The cove is well off the main channel which makes it excellent for family swim time down by the dock. But the main channel is easily accessible by jet ski or boat. A truly great place to stay!

Lovely get-away spot

Cozy, clean and well-stocked house sitting above a small cove on Smith Mountain Lake. It is quite out of the way of any conveniences so come well prepared as the closest stores and restaurants are about 20 minutes away. We enjoyed the amenities which included many outdoor sitting areas, kayaks, games, puzzles, plenty of coffee and much of what you would have in your own home. Ed explained clearly these amenities and expectations for check out. Our only complaint is that we were expected to haul off our trash to the local dump after paying a cleaning fee. As a former, short-term rental host, I understand requiring a cleaning fee, but asking your guests to haul trash to the dump after paying that fee is excessive.

Wedding venue tasting weekend!

We loved our stay and time on Smith Mountain Lake! My daughter booked her wedding at Sierra Vista and we had a vendor tasting this weekend and our stay at Ed was perfect!

Great Hosts

The homeowner is the most responsive VRBO host I have ever rented from. The home itself seems very new. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Access to kayaks was also quite nice. We enjoyed the amazing views from the back deck and dock. The stairs are a good workout for sure, but we got used to them.

Enjoyed the Property with a variety of nice touches

This is a nice property on Smith Mountain Island Lake. The home was very clean and well-stocked with essentials we do not typically find with rentals (e.g., toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning products, bubble bath, Qtips, flossers, body wash, shampoo/conditioner). Kitchen was well-stocked as well with great pots and pans and other items (e.g., spices, oil). Throughout the cabin, there were other nice touches such as board games, word searches, blankets, recommendations of places to eat and shop, etc. We enjoyed the fire pit and really liked that there was a large stack of smaller sticks and wood to use. There are several spots to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake - a side area off the house with a grill and two chairs, a large deck off the house with a table for dining and high top chairs, platform as you walk down stairs to lake, and covered area near lake dock with a high top table. Some observations - $200 for the cleaning fee seems too high. The stairs down to the lake are rather extensive (lots of steps). It was okay with us but may not work well for all. The housing in the neighborhood is mixed and is off a gravel road. This property was one of the nicer ones.
