The Jewel Apartments are located right opposite the beach which is absolutely lovely. There are 3 towers, we were in the North Tower. Our apartment had 2 rooms, a kitchen and great lounge room. The only issue we had was the letting agent was not in the same building so after arriving from the airport we had to go to surfers to pickup the keys. At least we could leave our keys in the apartment upon checking out. Also, I would have liked a few more amenities considering we paid so much for the accommodation... like toilet paper was 2 rolls for 3 of us for 6 days. It would have been nice to have some of the basic grocery items in the kitchen, like extra tea towels, sponges, dishwashing liquid, laundry powder, rubbish bags. And, finally,the foyer has a strong perfumed smell upon entry which is quite off putting. It does sound like did not have a good stay but we did and it was lovely.

Overall the apartment was good. Dealing with Q Stays was difficult. Their office is unstaffed so all you can do is email them but you can talk to someone after hours- go figure? It wasn’t made clear in advance that you need to go into downtown surfers paradise to collect and return the keys. We were early and waiting to receive check in details and when they finally came through we had to pack the kids back into the car and drive into the middle of surfers - ended up wasting close to an hour by the time we figured out where it was and got through the long weekend traffic. Same for leaving - we had an early flight so had to start the day going the wrong way. Room itself well appointed but there was no instructions for air conditioning and we struggled to get it working. Also the blinds were electric but in the second bedroom the remote was missing so couldn’t close these at all and the lounge room blinds didn’t work - as the second bedroom has a glass wall to the rest of the apartment this meant it was bright in the bedroom from sun up. Finally got a response (by email only) to this from q stays after 2 days but by then we bought shreds to hang up to serve as blinds and wasn’t interested in waiting around for a maintenance person
