Arrived at hotel to find restaurant being renovated and closed. Recepionist clearly not enjoying her job. Or having a bad day. Freezing cold room, although it warm up when i put the heating on, heating in bathroom, no towell rails. Had to pay a refundable £50 deposit, okay its refundable but really. In the receptionists words its in case u break anything. I witnessed several people leaving as they weren't happy with their rooms. Whole place is dated, best thing to do here is knock it down. Lucky for me it was a night businesse trip. Next time im In Gloucester I'll be staying elsewhere. Avoid.

This hotel is under renovation and should be closed till it’s finished. There were a number of things that made this hotel unpleasant: The rooms are tired, cold, and uncomfortable. The pillows are so thin you need to use all four. There was no hot water, the shower gel was so diluted it was just perfumed water. The toilet rolls were cheap and thin, and there was no wash basin products. The walls are so thin you can hear everything in the adjacent rooms, some things should be private and you could hear every noise. The tipple bar was cold as I noted there was an issue with heating as the hotel had portable heaters throughout the building. I feel sorry for the lady who was running the desk as the staff did not know how to deal with guests. We experienced a guest being double booked into a room. We were looking for a comfortable hotel to stay at before a competition at Hartpury and this was unfortunately not it.

The staff were all very nice & helpful. Plenty of parking. Good size twin room & comfy bed. They were doing the hotel up so unfortunately there wasn't any restaurant facility. It was a bit noisy with the corridor door closing loudly but we were right next door to it. Apart from that & the pillows were a bit lumpy. Very good value though £50 per night per room. Would stay again but not next to the corridor door

This hotel has major issues with damp. All communal areas, reception and hallways have dehumidifier running. Got to our room, awful smell of damp. No heating on, room was very cold. There is a wall mounted electric heater, managed to get it working but could not adjust temperature as the controls were broken. Was then changed to another room. Still the same smell of damp, heater did have controls but hadn't been switched on. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Sorry

Told on arrival they don’t accept AMEX , I told them I paid in advance with Expedia , they didn’t care and made me pay again with a different card??! What if I didn’t have another card or enough funds to pay twice.

I would not recommend this hotel. I ended up leaving because it was not a comfortable family atmosphere. Of course they offered no refund. It looks like an institution that is being remodeled to serve as a hotel. The remodel is incomplete.

This hotel is a masterclass in false advertising. The "cozy" room was a frigid walk-in closet, half the advertised size, with beds like concrete slabs. The bathroom was aggressively beige and nothing like the glossy photos. The atmosphere was a unique blend of industrial solvent, forgotten mop water, and existential dread. Sleep was impossible, thanks to the non-stop, 12-hour audio seminar on hardcore human passion from the room above. Non stop banging until early hours of the morning. Trying to distract myself, I found the Wi-Fi password was just a theoretical concept—zero connectivity. The temperature felt calibrated to an ice fishing hut, forcing us to sleep fully clothed. When we tried to complain, the advertised "24/7" reception was locked down tighter than Fort Knox after 11 PM. If you enjoy paying for a scented freezer, enduring frostbite, and receiving zero customer service, book immediately. Everyone else: flee.

Clean and airy room. Very comfortable bed. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. Plenty of parking space, friendly staff, good value.

Lovely staff but poor management/maintenance

Firstly, I can’t praise the girls on reception enough. They were friendly, sympathetic, helpful, and I really appreciated our chats. Unfortunately, on arrival, the shower head in my room flew off the wall, hit me in the face, and soaked the bathroom and my belongings. The water also had a strong ammonia or sewage smell. I wouldn’t have felt safe bathing in it, let alone drinking it. The brilliant receptionist on the evening of 09/07 moved me to a family room straight away and even offered to help carry my things. Sadly, this room also had plumbing issues. During a 33°C heatwave, only hot water came through the taps. A cold shower and drinking water after long, sweaty days wasn’t possible. When I asked for cold water to brush my teeth and stay hydrated, I was told I could buy bottles for £1 each, but it was cash only with no change available, so I was forced to buy five bottles with a note. Given the ongoing water issues, this felt unreasonable. Hotel clearly needs repair, with damp and smells throughout. Beds were comfortable and the cleaners did a great job. But access to safe running water is a basic necessity, not an optional extra. I appreciated the staff who did all they could, but I do feel management should have partially compensated & take these issues seriously and treat guests with more care. Thanks Alice + other girl- sorry forgot name! Without you my stay would have been reviewed much worse. Powers that be/bosses - you need to learn from their customer service!
