"First and foremost the property was clean, functional and offered value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful, although our experience of room service was let down by dirty cups being left. We found the hotel lacked character, everything about it was functional and not interesting. This extended to the breakfast, our experience of which was behind not eating supper there. This is not a criticism of the hotel, it is my view. Based on reviews I expected a little more than we got. Having said this if you want somewhere to sleep for a night it two it’s fine."

"My wife and I try to travel as often as possible. We like to find unique, fancy hotels and we just found our favorite. First, the location is the best in Newcastle. Close enough to all the downtown sites and activities, but still quiet enough to have a nice romantic walk. Second, this was the cleanest room we've ever stayed in. The entire hotel was top notch. Third, the staff was the most fantastic. Friendly smiles and went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. I wish I would have eaten at the amazing looking restaurant and visited the spa. We definitely will be back to do it all. The corner room facing the bridge was absolutely incredible! Thank you for being part of us falling in love with Newcastle!"

"Modern, spacious and very clean rental property which was ideal for our stay in Gateshead! We had a few minor issues after we checked in, but they were dealt with very promptly by the managing agents, and we had a very enjoyable stay.The property itself feels as though is is fairly new to the rental market and there are a couple of areas that could enhance the stays for future visitors. Firstly, the property would benefit from having some simple instuctions available for guests, such as how to work the central heating system, and what days to put out the bins for collection. The property has three good-sized bedrooms with double beds and is advertised as sleeping 6 people. However, the dining table only has four chairs, and the basement lounge has no sofa and only enough seating for 2 people! Fortunately there were only two of us staying, so it wasn't a problem for us, but for larger groups it would be an issue."

"Stayed for 2 nights for the Great North Run. We have used this property for many years for the same event. Arrived for check-in to a very busy hotel, a wedding reception was in full swing. Met by a not very friendly man on reception who informed us about the wedding and that the restaurant and bar were not available for us that evening. We checked breakfast would be from 7 am as in previous years and in fact we had confirmed with Greta on the previous Wednesday. He was quite firm that breakfast wouldn't be available until 7:30 ish standard Sunday times and we are very busy. Later we met with other fellow runners in the hotel lobby who were also concerned about the lack of food that evening and breakfast time. By chance a very helpful reception lady (assisting with photo booth man) overheard our conversation and assured used Breakfast would be from 7 am as usual and the staff involved had been informed, Due to the hotel being busy we and 2 others had to wait nearly half hour for the photo booth man to move his van so we could go out for food etc. We were told by staff that THINGS HAD CHANGED with the new owners. Don't think we will be there next year. The premises is looking very tiered in places and felt the staff are just doing a gob but not looking very happy doing it! It's a shame the hotel didn't inform us of the LACK OF FACILITIES for the Saturday night, if we had known we would have gone elsewhere."
