Great place to stay very close to the lighthouse. Love the small, intimate, boutique-style feel to it. Make sure to have the egg hoppers for breakfast! Delicious!

We were upgraded to an upstairs room. Breakfast was educational and very tasty. Great location with easy walking around the fort. Manager organised a driver for us to Ella. Would definitely recommend- 5 stars.

Beautiful historic hotel

The Fort House is an amazing 17c building sympathetically renovated and centrally locatedwithin the fort . The staff were lovely and always attentive. For the first time during our trip we had traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts . Interesting, educational and tasty. The room was comfortable with a four poster bed and an ensuite bathroom. We highly recommend The Fort House.

The staff and the property were absolutely amazing! The facilities are gorgeous and everyone was very helpful. It’s only a 2-3 minute walk to the lighthouse and its steps away from the Fort. The breakfast included delicious fresh fruits a local Sri Lankan dishes. They also helped book us a tuk tuk to get to Weligama Bay. 10/10 would definitely stay again.

A Gem in Galle: Unmatched Hospitality and Comfort

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Fort House for three nights with my partner and it was an incredibly accommodating and comfortable experience. The staff were exceptionally hospitable, warm, and attentive, with special mentions to Dilki, Husna, and Mohammed, who made our stay truly memorable. The breakfast each morning was a highlight of our stay. It was some of the best food we had during our entire trip to Sri Lanka. It was either egg hoppers or string hoppers, coconut curry, pancakes, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and tea, all perfectly prepared and delicious. The rooms were excellent, equipped with nice air conditioning, making them a cool and relaxing retreat from the heat. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was welcoming and comfortable, and it was clear that the staff took great care in ensuring we felt at home. Overall, this was the most welcoming hotel experience I have ever had. The combination of excellent rooms, outstanding food, and incredibly kind and competent staff made our stay unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Galle.

Lovely location inside the Fort - fabulous breakfast each morning and super friendly staff. If you need any help make sure you ask prior to 6pm each day as Hotel staff go home and only restaurant staff left to help, we didnt require and staff let us know in advance.

Poor service

While the property is nice and pretty, the service is below par. Despite knowing issue of red-ants in the room, no provision was made. A lot of our food was wasted due to massive amount of red ants in the room. After we complained, a spray was provided which was of no use. The breakfast buffet has very limited options and they provide you whatever they have (sometimes without even asking) resulting in wastage of food. The staff leaves at 6pm which is quite early and if there's any assistance required only kitchen staff is available who don't know everything. The rooms door and windows open up in the corridor so you can't keep them open for fresh air in case you need privacy. The washrooms didn't have exhaust fan. The property is very new and it seems like they are ill-experienced and ill-equipped to provide quality service and facilities one would expect at this price.

Fantastic hotel in perfect position, amazing staff

Fabulous find! This boutique style hotel only opened a couple months ago and they’ve done everything just right! We loved our stay here, the rooms are contemporary yet still with classic touches of the local styles, they are spacious and clean, and the hotel is in such a great position to explore the fort area. The staff couldn’t be nicer- they are all so very friendly and efficient, and the breakfasts were really delicious- super fresh spread of fruit, local Sri Lankan breakfast and pancakes, and with different homemade juice every day too. We absolutely would come back and very happy to recommend it.
