  • Enjoy a peaceful holiday at Auchmedden Cottage and within easy reach of plenty of attractions.. All on the Ground Floor:

    Living room/kitchen: 43" Freeview Smart TV, Woodburner, Breakfast Area, Electric Cooker, Microwave, Fridge/Freezer, Washing Machine

    Bedroom 1: Double (4ft 6in) Bed

    Bedroom 2: Double (4ft 6in) Bed. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial fuel for open fire included. Travel cot and highchair. Welcome pack.. Large, enclosed lawned garden with patio, firepit and BBQ. Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. This property is over 100 years old and retains many of its original features including doors, wood panelling and stone flooring, whilst enjoying the comforts of a modern bathroom and kitchen. It benefits from its own natural water sourced from the rock. Sitting in an elevated position overlooking Pennan Bay, which was used as a film location for Local Hero, starring Burt Lancaster, it boasts lovely sea views over the hugely popular bay.

    Enjoy sitting in the enclosed garden whist enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature. With two double bedrooms and an open living space, it is perfect for a small family or couple. The lovely beach at Aberdour is a short drive away and Killykan Bay and Pennen are within easy reach; here you can have a picnic then spend some time exploring St Drostan’s Well. Enjoy days discovering the small coastal villages of Crovie and Gardenstown, with their dramatic and ever changing landscapes. Family fun can be had in Macduff and Banff, approximately 11 miles away, where Duff House, The Spotty Bag shop and Macduff Aquarium can all be found. Auchmedden Cottage is also brilliantly placed for golf, with many courses being found nearby. In the opposite direction, Fraserburgh has plenty of cafés and parks to keep you busy. It is also home to the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, which is certainly worth a visit. If you are a keen bird watcher, then the RSPB Troup Head is 4 miles from the cottage. Auchmedden Cottage really is set in a wonderful location where you can explore all this area of Scotland has to offer. Fishing nearby. Beach 1¼ miles. Shop and restaurant 1¾ miles, pub 1 mile.

We had a fantastic week in this cosy cottage. It was so peaceful an cosy and the views were absolutely stunning. Our nearest neighbours were the beautiful cows in the fields all around. The coast all around was wonderful to explore.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at the cottage with our dog. Stunning views and perfect location, remote but not too remote. Fraserburgh & Banff only a 20 min drive away. The cottage was warm & cosy and has everything you need for that true home from home experience. The garden is fully enclosed so our dog had a great time and dog bowls are provided. The welcome pack is a nice touch with some local goodies in it and treats for our dog too (thank you Wendy).Can't recommend this property enough and we will definitely book again for next year.

This was our second stay here and it was just as perfect as last time.

This was our second stay here and it was just as perfect as last time. The beds are comfy, the cottage is warm and well equipped. The location is what drew us to this cottage in the first place, the lack of light pollution brings out more stars than we've seen anywhere else. The views are stunning from the cottage and the whole area is gorgeous in autumn. w3w hours.ample.losing will get you there, not the easiest to spot in the dark on your first visit. Probably a bit short on living space for four adults but for me and two kids 10 and 13 it was fine. All the local beaches are lovely and very different to each other.

We would highly recommend Auchmedden Cottage and its host Wendy...the cottage is so unusual and quirky, set in beautiful surroundings, with stunning views overlooking Pennan Bay...the personal touches, such as a thoughtful welcome pack, made our stay extra special..the enclosed garden gets a "five paws" from our Labrador too...We hope to return in the future...thank you Wendy for a wonderful stay.

Some nice beaches, takeaway restaurants, and coffee places nearby, though probably not much in walking distance unless you're *super* into hills. Wi-fi was occasionally a bit hit-and-miss, but mostly solid. Really enjoyed our week there.
