Don’t stay at the Drift Hotel if you are expecting even the most basic of amenities. I’m not talking things like a gym, or free breakfast. No, I’m talking things like soap. We had no soap in the room. Had to go to the desk to ask for it. Also don’t expect a working TV. Ours wasn’t working, so when we asked for the soap we also asked about the tv. The front desk clerk came to room, proceeded to take a personal phone call on his cell, then told us that the Tv doesn’t work. Then left. Let’s see… what else…. Paid for a drink in the vending machine but it was empty of every choice (old fashioned type where you can’t see the stock, or lack thereof, in it). Poor upkeep. Stains on the walls. Yellow water in the toilet. I cringed when it came time to shower. Dead bug on the bathroom floor, and maybe the most egregious fault. No coffee maker in the room. Only stay here if you need a cheap room that smells like mildew, and you don’t expect to wash your hands or body with soap, don’t drink coffee, and have no need for a working tv. Also stay here if you want to hear EVERY FOOTSTEP the guest in the floor above you is taking. Nothing like the very loud sound of creaking wood to wake you up. I feel like I should say something positive. The electricity did work, so we were able to charge or phones. There, that’s the positive.

My room smelled of mildew, the floor was slippery and there was mold in the bathroom. On top of that, we requested a nonsmoking room. What we got was cigarette burns on the bedding. My partner and I had just driven 5 hours to get to Fort Lauderdale, and after all that we still had to step out to buy cleaning products simply to stay the night. It was that bad. The only benefit of staying here was the proximity to the beach and the walkability, there are a lot of restaurants and stores within walking distance. don’t come here unless you want to spend $45 on cleaning products to clean your own hotel room.

The location is ideal - less than a block to the beach. The room is "no frills" - very basic with not even a chair in it. I called it a step above army barracks. There is a courtyard just outside your room where you can sit with a table. However, at night homeless people occupy the courtyard and the other chairs which are IMMEDIATELY outside your door, like less than six feet. They are not New York crazy homeless people, just homeless and actually quite polite and not threatening in their demeanor at all. On the of the five nights I stayed there were homeless people outside on three of the nights. That said, I can overlook it and I actually felt sorry for them. Two of the nights it was pouring rain and they just wanted to sleep under the five feet of shelter just outside my room. They leave first thing in the morning. Even with all of that I would still stay here again because of the strategic location and the bargain basement price versus everything else in the area.

It was acceptable for a night but not especially inviting. Very old and no hairdryer. The blankets in our beds were so thin we both froze and had to put on socks and sweats. Was weird!!

Tout a été terrible. Aucun moyen d'avoir un café le matin. On doit se rendre au Starbucks pour un café, le restaurant au coin de la rue n'a pas de verre pour apporter. Aucun moyen d'avoir du change (m'ont dit qu'ils ne gardent pas d'argent) pour changer un 10$ afin de donner du pourboire à la femme de chambre. Je partais en croisière et mes vêtements sentaient terriblement l'humidité, tout comme l'odeur d'humidité imprégné dans la chambre. Terriblement cher pour ce que c'est.

Pros: the room was clean and it’s a quick walk to the beach. Cons: folks at the reception desk ( with the exception of one guy who was working Sunday morning) were very unfriendly and not welcoming at all, I mean, not even a “hello.” The room was clean but spartan, bed was rock hard, bedspread dingy and worn, no hair dryer, no cups, no coffee. The place gets a 3* for location only

Stuff was great, very friendly. Pool are is good. Location is the best. But room is where you get what you pay for.. very old and neglected. Dirty not as in not cleaned but just old, rusted, chipped paint.

The room was dirty, damp, and riddled with mold and funk! I don't know who is giving this place more than the base minimum of a 1-star rating! This is, by far, the worst hotel I've ever stayed at! I walked from the bed to the bathroom in brand new white socks and they were filthy afterwards! The air quality in the room is awful due to the dampness, mold and mildew throughout! And they've screwed every window shut! Why is Expedia allowing this place on their site?! Plus, the booking was set to pay at the hotel, but the hotel attempted to charge my card 3 days before the reservation date! Why is that allowed when there's an option to cancel 24 hours before? I emailed them to ask why they were trying to charge me beforehand and they never responded. I'm glad my bank stopped the transaction. The Drift Hotel has nothing to offer other than a great location within walking distance to lots of tourist traps, restaurants, and the beach. So, stay at your own risk!

Room wasn’t very clean, no hangers in the closets, at least 1 person slept overnight at a table in the courtyard, people were smoking in front of our room, our room had water damage and mold, no place to sit in the room, no dresser. I could go on but suffice it to say, the location is the only reason to stay here.
Closet - no hangers and no iron.
No dresser, no place to put your suitcase. TV couldn’t get WiFi.
Mold at base of shower.
Something on the wall - don’t even want to know what it is.

Room was relatively spacious. Washroom was nice. The walls were not sound proof and you could hear everything in the room next to us. AC was leaking water and created a “wet” smell in the room. Limited amenities. No iron, no water, no safe in room etc. This is not a hotel, it’s more of a motel or inn. Location is very convenient though. Overall, stay was maybe a 6/10.

The rooms smelled of mold covered with floral spray. The walls, sheets and bed spread were stand as well. The cleaning staff was throwing sheets and bedding and trash bags over the railing onto the ground outside from the upper level. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else.
