My wife, adult daughter and I had a fine time here. It was clean, comfortable and convenient to the beach and Center St. We would recommend it with a few caveats and notes to the owners for improvements.
One issue that has been fixed is how the place was promoted. The description listed a dishwasher but there isn't one. Not awful, but this meant like two hours of our vacation was spent doing dishes. We called this to the owners' attention and they took a little off the rent. The place can be noisy. Ashley St. is the main street for the northern end of the island and you get golf carts, dump trucks and utility vans going constantly, especially on the weekend. There is a bar with live music about two blocks away which can get loud on the weekend, but they do shut down the music at 10 pm so not a dealbreaker.
It is great to be close to beach and Center Street. It was maybe 5 minutes from your chair to saltwater on your toes. Two minutes to Berts, the amazing overpriced convenience store. I did not use the service, but as a Portlander use to microbrews everywhere it was nice that Bert's sells growlers to go. Another two minutes on Ashley and you are in the gut of places for fun and frolic. Parking is tough near center street and the sandy lots cost $10 to $20 so if you stay 10 blocks away you might find yourself in a predictament.
The place itself is spacious. Beds are big for the rooms but you don't spend a lot of time in your bed in Folly. We know it is hard to supply a place like this. Towels were fine, but we felt the one roll of TP for what could have been six people was a bit light. Also, the lack of a corkscrew was annoying. We bought a cheap one and left it.
Decor was cheery if a bit predictable. The front porch was a good place for coffee in the morning, although being on the ground floor really emphasized the traffic. The wifi worked without a hitch.
All in all, we would recommend. I think the next time we come to the Folly area, we might see if we could afford a place on the beach or possibly sample the more posh Sullivan's Island.
