The Friday Night Jamboree at the Floyd Country Store is a beloved Appalachian tradition. Every week, locals and visitors gather for an evening of live bluegrass, old-time, and gospel music. We stayed here for three nights while getting married just down the road at Chateau Morrisette. It was perfectly situated close by and also with a remote and private vibe.
The cabin provided a great base to explore Floyd and the surrounding area. Very clean and well decorated. Plenty of space for our family of 4 to decompress. Morning yoga and coffee on the deck were a great way to start the day. So many birds. At night we had incredible starry skies.
We had six of us and a pet dog. The cabin was big enough and had all the amenities u would need
Nice quiet remote spot
Owner was excellent and very responsive
A cute and cozy cabin outside of Floyd and close to a wonderful winery and restaurant. We enjoyed our stay and the cabin had everything we needed to make it a comfortable stay. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing stay. Our only regret is we didn’t stay longer! We will be back!

Wonderful solitude and hottub
Helen and Drew's new luxurious "cabin" is perfect for 2 or 3 couples. The wooded road to the cabin is well kept up and beautiful and was easy for our small car without clearance. We really enjoyed exploring around the cabin, down to the little stream through paths made through the rhodedendrons. The kitchen was well-endowed, and the internet and wifi worked great after we rebooted it. Helen was great with directions and responded quickly to any questions or concerns. I have AT&T so no cell coverage (as warned), but could use wifi to call people on WhatsAp without a problem. We took a hottub every night and were within minutes of wineries and incredible hikes off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The master bedroom on the main floor was wonderful, with a spacious bathroom and walkin closet. The huge bedroom upstairs had its own balcony, a comfortable queen bed, and it's own full bath. The other double bed in the loft is comfortable, but you need to climb a ladder to get up there and not be afraid of heights. Everything was spotless, and I have never seen so many extras ("in case we forgot anything") in a rental house, not to mention the terry cloth robes. Almost the Hilton, only better!
The cabin is adorable and very clean and well-stocked. Just a quick trip to Floyd (which is super cute and full of great restaurants and shops). Cabin is secluded and quiet. Owners are really nice and communicative. Our only trouble at all was with the road getting to the cabin...not ideal for tiny sportscars. ;) (Of course, if you were driving something, say, practical and sane for mountain roads, I'm sure there would be no trouble at all.)
We had such a fantastic time staying at the cabin. Other reviews were accurate in their mention of the road being a little rough as you get close to the cabin, but we made it without a problem in our 4 door sedan. The cabin was immaculate, and the owners were incredibly thoughtful, leaving plenty of extras here and there just in case you forgot something. Excellent for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of every day life! We’re still not sure if we want to recommend this place to all of our friends or keep it as our little secret! 😉
We didn't use it as many days as we had planned but it was a good place near us.

Just wow.
Rented over Memorial Day weekend 2019. The place is as close as you can get to Blue Ridge Parkway and Chateau Morrisette Winery while being about as in the woods a possible (you are literally the only ones back in there!). The cabin is perfect. Superbly kept up, these are *exactly* the type of owners you dream about getting when you rent on Vrbo. Absolutely everything is provided. The amount of effort and thought that Helen has put in is truly a role model for other owners. It is so rare these days to find owners so committed.
The loft was perfect for my 11 year old, she will remember that forever.
Pros (so many!): Remote, quiet, close to parkway, stellar condition, everything provided. Hot tub; Internet access. In twenty years of renting this is in the top 5 I've ever rented.
Cons (very minor!): There's no huge cons, but just as an FYI to renters, there is no air conditioning. The upstairs bedroom gets quite hot. It is the mountains, so it does get cool at night, but if you are particularly adversely affected by heat, the peak summer months may be rough. It was a hot weekend we rented, but I imagine they get hotter. Also, and I personally had no problem with this, but there is no TV (except Netflix (which is owner provided) through internet), and definitely no ATT phone signal. You will not miss the TV! Also, again just an FYI if you are renting a long time, no laundry at site (rats, can't do laundry on vacation, lol).
My daughter is already planning our return visit. I can't say enough positive about the clear efforts of the owners put into this place on a regular basis and as renters we thank you for that effort and sharing your home.

The perfect get-away that almost wasn't...
We booked our stay at the Ridgetop Cabin right after Thanksgiving for mid December. We desperately needed a short vacation away from our extremely busy day to day lives and to check on the construction of our new home in Pilot, VA.
We found the cabin on VRBO and it had everything that we were looking for. A rustic feel, a remote location and relatively close to Floyd and our property. We booked our stay and anxiously waited for the check in date to arrive.
Two days prior to arrival, the owners contacted us with news that a large snowstorm came through the area leaving devastating amounts of snowfall and the booking may have to be cancelled. We were extremely disappointed but understood the situation. We began contacting other properties, but all responded that their rentals could not be accessed. Eventually we had prepared our hearts that we would most likely be staying in a local hotel.
That night we received word from the owners that they wanted to try to keep the booking if we could give them another 12 hours to get the property cleared. With no other options we were blessed by their persistence and agreed that we could hold on cancelling until the night before we were travelling to the area. Late that night we received word that the owners made it to the cabin. They spent hours clearing access to all of the necessary accommodations and they took extra time to add personal touches around the cabin that did not go un-noticed. We were totally amazed by their effort and blessed by their persistence to provide the perfect location for us to unwind for a few days!
When we got to the cabin, it was everything we expected. Our 4 wheel drive had no trouble getting in and out after all of the work to clear it and the cabin was just perfect! We spent 2 productive days getting work done at the property and enjoyed a full day getting to know the stores and restaurants in Floyd. Our last day here we decided to do lunch at Chateau Morrisette and stop down for a wine tasting afterward. Due to the inclement weather, we were the only ones there and the amazing staff treated us so well.
Our stay at the Ridgetop Cabin was a true blessing, not just because of the beautiful property, but mostly because of the attention and care that the owners have for the individuals that come to make memories. Thank you Drew and Helen! Your property is wonderful and your hospitality is overwhelming. 5 Stars...

Nice cabin in the woods!!
Picked it off the list based on isolation and roominess. It did not disappoint! Owners were great with correspondence and making sure we were taken care of. They had all kinds of little surprises scattered throughout the cabin (I wont spoil them by listing them here). Cabin is located right near the blue ridge parkway and a really nice winery within 1 mile. Floyd was a quaint little town that was fun to visit. Also, bring your hiking boots because there are some great trails nearby. The only thing I would warn folks about is the approach to the actual cabin can be a bit hairy. You are not on paved road for about 1/2 mile and it can get tight/muddy. Definitely want to leave the sports car at home. Cheers!

Peaceful weekend retreat but smaller than it appears
Fleeing Hurricane Florence and an interrupted beach vacation, we stayed at Ridgetop Cabin for a three-night detour on the way home. Helen was very prompt in responding to our last-minute booking request and attentive to our questions when we arrived. The furnishings were of good quality and many amenities were provided, including toiletries, towels and robes, and baby furniture. The hot tub, little trails through the rhododendron, and firepit are great features. The cabin is conveniently located just off the Parkway near Mabry Mill and close to Floyd. We would stay here again under different circumstances, but . . . the only drawback was that the cabin should really be listed as a two-bedroom rather than three, and the square footage (listed at 2100) should not include the loft. After looking quickly through listings as we were being evacuated, we were surprised when we arrived to find that the sleeping loft was located above one of the (two) bedrooms. That would work fine for a couple with teenagers, but made for awkward arrangements for us The small galley kitchen with minimal storage (though high-quality appliances) meant that we had to leave our food in bags and ice chests on the floor. There is no dining area, just a folding gate-leg table and four folding chairs. When unfolded, the table has adequate space but its design, with legs in the middle, make it exceptionally unstable if anyone leans on it. Folks can also sit on the sofa and use the coffee table, but there is no way for the rated seven guests to eat together. Also, oddly, there is a stovepipe for a wood stove, but no stove or fireplace, which would be a drawback in the colder months. The grill is on its last legs. So, overall, prospective visitors should just make sure that the space fits their needs and expectations -- this would be a great place for two couples hiking and visiting the winery who don't plan to cook much, or a family with kids who are going to sit on the couch and eat pizza while watching Netflix. Finally, although an AWD vehicle may not be necessary at all times of the year, recent rains have eroded the steep driveway somewhat and made us doubtful that one of our two cars (a hybrid with low clearance) could make it back up; we used our AWD car to ferry luggage to and from the cabin from the top of the driveway.

Just an amazing place to get away from everything! We didn’t want to leave. All the amenities you could ever need! Many thanks Helen and Drew ✌️❤️
