Other neighborhoods around Dhar Mehraz

Large tannery that provided a fascinating look at how animal hides are turned into leather. The colors, the smell, the activity of the workers below...quite an overwhelming but worthwhile experience.

Mellah

Visitors to Mellah enjoy its spas, and if you want to do some exploring, Bab Semmarine is worth a stop.

Mellah
I needed a break from Moroccan food. So I went to a Spanish Restaurant. And then I ordered the very un-Spanish like plate of sushi.

It was just what I needed.

Ville Nouvelle

3.5/5(50 area reviews)

Ville Nouvelle is noteworthy for its gardens, and you can make a stop at top attractions like Borj Fez Mall and Atlas Garden.

Ville Nouvelle
The seven gates at night.

Fes El Jdid

You'll enjoy the monuments and parks in Fes El Jdid. You might want to make time for a stop at Royal Palace or Bab Semmarine.

Fes El Jdid
Tucked away on one of the many side streets of Fes, with an unassuming door and front is the amazing Riad Salam Fes.

A luxury riad nestled in the old medina of Fes, which is a UNESCO world heritage site, is walking distance to so much of the old medina to discover - shopping, foods, markets, restaurants.

This is where we ate breakfast in the morning. I know...hard to handle ;)

El Ayoun

While El Ayoun isn't home to many top sights, Bou Inania Madrasa and Blue Gate are some notable places to visit nearby.

El Ayoun
“Blue? It’s green!” we hear you cry! The other side is blue, but this side is green, the colour for Islam. Standing since 1913, this is the gate that represented all the Arabian Night stories. We got up at 5.30am to get shots without people. If you like this angle you need to head to the roof of the Cascade Hotel. For a few dirhams the sleepy doorman will let you in and lead you up. Seeing the sunrise over this very special city while the Mu’azzin sing out the prayer call is a must. Should you head that way, please send our love to Fes. #history #fes #morocco #babboujeloud
