We visited Étaples Military Cemetery whilst in France during Remembrance Sunday.

At home I always attend the service and as we were away, I wanted to pay my respect to all those whatever nationality who have lost their lives in past wars.

The cemetery is one of the largest in the area and has thousands of graves spanning two world wars and those of several different nationalities are buried there.

It was a very moving experience and we were humbled by the enormity of the place. If you're in the area, it really is worth visiting and somehow it puts our lives and how we live them today into perspective.

"Nous avons passé un week-end à Hardelot dans cet appartement, dans un environnement très calme, et propice au repos. Nous avons eu un accueil très chaleureux et bienveillant, tout comme au moment de notre départ. Nous avons "inauguré" cet appartement, très propre, et agréable. Le parking limité en nombre de places, ainsi que le débit d'eau de la douche sont des détails qui n'ont pas entaché notre séjour inoubliable. Très belle région. Nous reviendrons sans aucun doute. "

"The welcome was good, check-in smooth. Pretty hotel. Vending machine on landing empty but we don’t need anything. Only one towel each but the shower good, tea and coffee in the room and kettle. Wall mounted hairdryer. Enough sockets and beds very comfortable. Great place to stopover as very central. "

"Room was one of the smaller ones on the 4th floor but immaculate. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom was compact but also immaculate. The staff were polite and very helpful without exception. The hotel is in an ideal position for a visit to Le Touquet. The staff in the bar appeared to be stretched at times when the bar area was at capacity. But otherwise no issues of concern. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked a return trip in March 2026. "

"Staff were very friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean and looked after. My only comment would be about the shower door. It opened inward, and I'm pretty slim, but even for me it was awkward to exit the shower. Breakfast was excellent, all fresh bakery products, orange juice, coffee. For the price Ibis cannot be beaten."
