Escape to Birchwood Suite

Escape from the monotony of daily life to Fairbanks, Alaska at Birchwood Escape! Nestled on Murphy Dome, surrounded by birch trees with a view like none other in the Fairbanks area; this one bedroom vacation rental is complete with a full kitchen and living room area with a full entertainment center. The goose down comforter on the queen size bed is very comfortable but I bet you'd rather be outside enjoying Alaska in its finest. A large comfortable sofa enables this property to accommodate 3 guests. If desired, renters may have access to traditional native parkas, furs, hats, and more for photos to remember your time at Birchwood Suite. A short 14 miles west of Fairbanks allows full views of the Northern Lights. During the summer, we are a short 10 minute drive to the top of Murphy Dome. Come enjoy all that Birchwood Suite has to offer.

There is no public transportation to this location. We are 20 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and 25 minutes from downtown Fairbanks. Uber and taxi service is available in Fairbanks however, they are expensive and may be inconvenient. A rental car is the best choice when staying with us. We strongly recommend that guests visiting us in the winter rent an AWD vehicle.

Near Murphy's Dome

The rental is clean and comfortable. We were staying in Alaska to see the lights and this spot is very easy access to Murphy's dome, which was perfect. Whenever we needed to rest up from the long nights out the property was quiet and relaxing. It could not have been better for what we were looking for.

Awesome experience at Escape to Birchwood Suite

Tim and Stacie were exceptional hosts. From the great accommodations to the coffee, homemade bread and raspberry jam the stay was awesome. They even saved us a trip to town with some super glue when my wife's glasses broke and when we had to have a package delivered. Loved the heated floors in the bedroom and bathroom. Spent 9 days with them during our Fairbanks Aurora vacation. Had great viewing on our tours and even great Aurora viewing from their driveway on the two nights we didn't go out on tours. Could not have been more pleased with the experience.

Great space, fantastic hosts

We felt we were at home away from home with friends! When we checked in, the place was warm and inviting. While there, Fairbanks experienced "warm-ageddon", temperatures approaching 40 when they're usually -20, which turned the roads into sheets of ice rink. Tim and Stacie were EXCELLENT in communicating during this time, keeping their driveway clear and safe, and offering to help if we felt the roads were too treacherous for us to drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again!

We absolutely loved our stay. The location and views were perfect. Great spot to check out the northern lights. Tim and Stacie were excellent hosts and we really appreciated the little extras (fresh flowers, eggs and delicious homemade jams)

Northern Lights

We enjoyed Stacie and Tim’s hospitality. Treats were left upon arrival making the first morning enjoyable without needing to have ran to the store before checking in. The apartment is so homey and clean that my autistic daughter walked around barefoot which she rarely does even at lifetime friends homes.

Peaceful Place in the Woods near Murphy Dome

We loved staying here. You can tell the host cares about being a good host and not just trying to monetize space, unlike some other places we've stayed. The towels and sheets were good quality and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with basics like spices, cooking oil, tea, coffee, hot cocoa plus the spatulas and anything you'd need to make a meal. There was a wonderful welcome basket with local treats. We stayed in September and the view across the valley was spectacular with all of the trees turning yellow. You could occasionally hear footsteps from the hosts family upstairs, but they were quieter than most places.

Amazing and beautiful .

We chose this place as me and the wife like to stay away from the crowds . This place provided the perfect spot. This place had more than you can get in most rental places. Great space, great location

We stayed here so that we could see the Aurora Borealis from just outside our door. This place was ideal. We were able to step outside at 1:00am for a wonderful light show! The place was warm and welcoming with plenty of space and comfort. A delightful experience.

This place is quaint and cozy with a beautiful view of mountains. Extremely clean. Special goodies laid out upon arrival. Great hosts and excellent communication. Cell service is hit or miss depending on carrier. I highly recommend Birchwood Suite.

Best VRBO I’ve Ever Stayed In

My husband and I spent our 20th wedding anniversary in Fairbanks at Birchwood Suite. Great location and easy drive to Murphy Dome for Northern Lights viewing or to head into downtown Fairbanks. The accommodations are clean and very private feeling even with the owners living above you. The bed was very comfortable, super soft towels, and the kitchen had everything we needed so we didn’t have to spend extra money eating out every meal. Combine that with the thoughtful touches everywhere, fresh eggs, and homemade jam…we will definitely be staying here the next time we are in Fairbanks!

Comfortable, peaceful stay

These hosts have 5 star reviews for a reason. Very kind generous folks who leave you nice provisions such as water, coffee and fresh eggs. Check out the artwork on the welcome card. Done by their young and talented son. The place is perfect from the warmth to the location to Murphy’s Dome for Aurora views. Met both Tim and Stacie and they could not be nicer people unless they tucked you in at night. We just loved the place and you will too. Highly recommended.

Fabulous hosts and lovely place!

We arrived late at night and had no problem following directions to the house and getting inside. The hosts had prepared everything to welcome us. There were eggs their children had left from their chicken coop, local Alaskan goodies, and really comfortable bedding. Our hosts were available, gracious and went above and beyond to make us and our son comfortable. We will definitely be returning, and our son is looking forward to seeing them when he is in school in Fairbanks. We cannot recommend this property more highly!

Cute, Comfortable Condo

From the lit up barns at the entrance to the lane, to the birchwood wreath on the front door, to the fresh flowers and welcome basket, to the birch decorations, to the soft towels and comfy bed, to the well stocked kitchen this condo is well worth the money. We were glad we had a 4 wheel drive vehicle since the roads all around Fairbanks were snow packed - which added to our Alaska experience. We didn’t read the description about the tv but thankfully the WiFi service was strong enough that we could stream our YouTube TV. Thank you Motis Family!!

Wonderful place to stay!

This place is everything you would want to feel at home and comfortable. The area is beautuful and quiet. The apartment comes with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath. Tim and Stacie thought of everything we may have needed down to Toothpaste and soap . They included a small gift basket with goodies to help us feel so welcomed. They suggested places to go and things to do which were prefect for us to do. If you're lucky you may even see the auroras from right outside your door. We can't say enough about their home. It was such a wonderful experience and if we get a chance we'll definitely stay again. You won't be disappointed!
