Designed with large groups in mind, this expansive and character-filled lodge is ideal for multi-family holidays, school trips, or community retreats – sleeping up to 30 guests across nine bedrooms.
Spread across a series of connected former railway houses, Taylor Lodge has a unique and welcoming charm. Bedrooms offer a mix of sleeping arrangements – from bunk rooms sleeping up to six, to private rooms with double and king beds – providing flexible options for families, friends, or students. With four bathrooms, a massive catering-style kitchen, and a large, cosy lounge warmed by a fire, this is the perfect spot for gathering, relaxing, and sharing meals. A dedicated drying room and a washing machine add extra convenience for those returning from the slopes or trails.
Step outside to enjoy the peaceful bush setting, complete with outdoor furniture and a BBQ area for laid-back group dining. The partially fenced section offers a safe area for kids to play, and the surrounding land is rich in local history – remnants of the old Pokaka mill town still remain, and keen-eyed explorers may even discover vintage treasures hidden nearby.
Located just 20 minutes north of Ohakune and 15 minutes south of National Park, you’re ideally placed for both Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields. In summer, experience world-class hiking on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing or explore the region's expanding cycle network – including the brand-new Te Hangaruru track being built directly opposite the lodge.
