My wife and I stayed at this Erice flat two nights, and wished we'd stayed longer. The flat is super clean, and it's quiet and private. The view from the terrace is wonderful and it is a great place for a glass of wine and for unwinding after a day spent touring the countryside or walking the town. The pictures are accurate, but perhaps a description of the layout will be helpful for those considering this flat: the ground floor consists of a bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom with shower. The second floor opens into a living room and kitchen. The top floor has a large primary bedroom, a bathroom with toilet/bidet/washing machine, and the terrace with the great views. What connects the three floors is a corkscrew-like circular staircase. So if stairs are an issue or there are small children, perhaps this flat wouldn't work so well. For us, it was perfect.
I must mention what nice people the owners are and their tremendous hospitality towards us. English language communications are answered quickly by Vincenzo, the son of the family who own the flat. Parking is an issue in Erice, but we arranged a meeting at the front gate entrance, and then Vincenzo directed us to free parking for our stay (note: free parking isn't available mid-summer). Then his wonderful father, Guiseppe, loaded our luggage into his car and dropped it off at the flat. Meanwhile we walked up to the town with Vincenzo and he described the history of Erice and places we should consider visiting. I should add that the host provided a really wonderful amount of fresh fruit, desserts, a bottle of wine/beers for us to consume. This was a really nice touch, which we greatly appreciated. Vincenzo also told us where we could purchase fresh tuna (mid-May to mid-June is tuna season) for a meal we ate on the terrace.
In short, we were blown away by the hospitality, and the flat was really great. Erice is a really nice place to stay and it's especially wonderful once the busloads of day trippers have left. Full marks to this flat, and to its wonderful owners. We'd love to return. Many thanks!
