Stroll along the shoreline of Lough Erne and visit the many intriguing attractions that decorate this cultural and scenic hub.

Enniskillen is a charming town at the southern end of a long and picturesque lake. Castles and museums are among the fascinating sights in this historic municipality. Visit the fun and informative attractions on foot in the quaint town center and explore the countryside for architectural treasures.

Enjoy warm summers and mild winters with a trip to Lough Erne, a vast lake known for its 154 islands. Go fishing and participate in watersports, such as wakeboarding, waterskiing and rowing.

In the heart of Enniskillen is the main square, known as the Diamond, next to the Town Hall with its six-story clock tower. Visit the oldest building in the town, the 15th-century Enniskillen Castle. Capture photos of the preserved walls, towers and windows of this impressive structure. It contains the Fermanagh County Museum as well as a museum devoted to regiments of the British Army.

Among the highlights of the town center is the 19th-century Cole’s Monument. Gaze up at the tall obelisk, which stands in Forthill Park. Climb the 108 spiral steps to the viewing platform and snap photos of the town and surrounding parkland. Stroll through the woods and bring the kids to the play area.

A little southeast is the Enniskillen Golf Club, which is adjacent to Castle Coole. Admire the neoclassical design of the latter, with its strong pediment and thick white columns.

Head southwest to the serene countryside and find the architectural wonder of the region, Florence Court. Appreciate its Palladian architectural style, with its oldest part dating back to the early 1700s.

The town is on the River Erne near the Republic of Ireland border in the southwestern part of Northern Ireland. It stands between Upper and Lower Lough Erne in County Fermanagh. Drive southwest from Belfast Airport for 80 miles (130 kilometers) to get here. Visit nearby villages, such as Derrygonnelly and Ballinamallard, home of Rudyard Kipling.

Enniskillen is a pretty lakeside town with many historic monuments and castles.

Friendly receptionist, clean comfortable room with small kitchen which was useful. Good location at the edge of the town - though by a main road so some traffic noise.
