If you're looking for a mountain cabin but want a little luxury in your vacation, this gorgeous rental home is for you. Located in Alleghany County, near the border of NC and VA, this luxury cabin offers privacy and ambiance, as well as its own pond, stocked with fish. There's room for everyone, including the dog! This is the perfect mountain getaway.
The stunning interior of Castaway Lodge provides over 3000 square feet of cabin ambiance, with all the amenities of modern living. In the heart of this open floor plan you'll find a dramatic vaulted wood ceiling, as well as a large flatscreen TV and a towering stone fireplace (gas-fueled, for your convenience). This impressive great room is open to both the kitchen and the dining room, providing the perfect flow for entertaining and family togetherness. The master bedroom is also conveniently located on the main level. It offers a king-sized bed, another TV and an en suite bathroom, appointed with a dual vanity and a whirlpool tub. After a day of hiking and outdoor adventure, this is a feature you'll enjoy! There's also direct access to a balcony, for your morning coffee.
The open-concept kitchen is equipped with track lighting, a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and everything else you need to feel at-home. It's separated from the great room by a peninsula island that also serves as a bar, so you can be the cook and close to all the action. The spacious dining room seats 6. There's also a half bath on this level.
The spaciousness of the main level is accented by a two-story opening to the loft and upper level, where your friends and kids can enjoy their own space and privacy. There are two additional bedrooms upstairs, as well as a full bath with a shower. The loft bedroom has a queen bed and two bunks and the upstairs second bedroom has a king bed and a private balcony. Every bedroom has its own TV!
Before bedtime, however, most of your group is likely to spend time on the lower level, enjoying the enormous rec room. This fun space includes lots of comfy seating around TV #5, as well as games, darts, a pool table, bar seating and a small fireplace. There's also a convenient bathroom and laundry room down here.
From the lower level, walk straight out to the patio and jump in the hot tub! From the tub you'll take in a view of the pond, as well as the lovely landscaping all around you. This patio is another family entertainment spot, with a gas grill and a large dining table for eating al fresco. After dark, gather around the fire pit for conversation and star-gazing. You can also enjoy the view from the decks and balconies upstairs.

Experience the High Country
Castaway Lodge is located on the eastern end of Allegheny County, in the town of Ennice, near the Virginia border. From here you're only 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as 10 minutes to Cumberland Knob, a lovely recreation area. Its Gully Creek Trail is a 2.5-mile hike following cascades of water and beautiful woodland scenery. The park has additional hiking trails as well.
From the Lodge you're also only 10 minutes away from trout fishing at the Little River, or 20 minutes from all sorts of water adventure on the New River. In addition you're 20 minutes to Galax or to Sparta. The small town of Sparta features shops, restaurants, live music and friendly people. Check out the popular Becca's Backwoods Coffee, the Main Street Pizzeria, Italian-American fusion food at Crave, and the Muddy Creek Café and Music Hall. You can also experience traditional mountain music and dancing at the Alleghany Jubilee, originally the historic Sparta theater.
The New River is definitely a draw for visitors to the High Country. This peaceful and slow-moving river is scenic and safe for all ages. Nearby outfitters can expertly equip you for fishing, swimming, tubing, kayaking and canoeing. Of course, you'll also want to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, America's most beautiful road, with awe-inspiring views and photo opps.
