We stayed at this cabin to visit Luray and the local caverns. It is conveniently located with a short drive distance to most cavern systems and restaurants in the area, yet still far away enough to feel like you’re in the countryside. There are other houses and cabins on the same street, but the entire area was extremely quiet with zero traffic other than local residents.
Although we didn’t go down to the river, it was wonderful to hear it in the background when we were outside. The swing out back was a favorite for the kids and they loved the privacy of the upstairs “loft and ladder” room with their own bathroom.
The beds were comfortable and the cabin was extremely clean. All amenities were provided, and we were able to cook easy dinners without bringing anything other than our own food.
Highly recommended and would book this cabin again if in the area.

Cute Cabin
This was such a cute cabin near the river. Decorated super cute and clean. Just enough space for our family 5. We truly enjoyed our time at the house. I feel that the listing stating ‘fishing, tubing and boating’ was a stretch. We were hoping for fishing in the river behind the cabin, but the river access was not ideal and during our stay the river was low, so no fish. We had a hard time finding fishing holes and we did go tubing but drove an hour to get to it.

Beautiful cottage, terrific interior
2nd year at this cottage, entire family loves the location. Disappointed some maintenance issues weren’t corrected in the year since our last stay. One eye on the stove doesn’t work, no ice maker and no ice trays, no lock on the master bedroom door. Rope swing out back needs to be replaced. We loved our stay, but wish some of this issues had been addressed.
Our family was coming to Virginia for a graduation open house, and we wanted a place for our family of 7 (kids & adults) to be together. This property suited us perfectly. My parents had the master bedroom, my sister had the second bedroom on the main floor, and my family of four spread out upstairs. It was great to have 2 bathrooms. We took advantage of the fully stocked kitchen, and made a few meals while there. We also loved the unique decor around the house. Our kids loved hanging out in the loft when wanting some down time. We found Virginia to be very buggy during our visit, but that might have helped my daughter be a little less scared of them. That was the only thing we didn't enjoy, but we know that can't be helped.

Loved this house
This house was great for our get together with our family. We were a group of six, grandparents, parents and a four and eight year old. The grandchildren loved the upstairs room as well as the backyard swing. We were able to use the fire pit one night to roast hot dogs and s'mores.
The location is convenient to a grocery store (10-15 minutes). We were not there long enough to explore the area in depth, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back and stay there again for a longer time.
The only disappointing part, and the reason for the 4 stars was that the refrigerator was broken. It would have been great to have that information before we arrived so that we would have purchased less perishables at the grocery store. A very small refrigerator was brought in for us to use, but we had to keep trading food in and out so as not to have anything spoil.
No home rental is perfect, and there are always things about a rental you'd change if you could. But we cannot recommend this house due to the poor response by owner/management to a serious problem. We checked in on Friday. Although the house is advertised as including linens that night we discovered that each bed had a fitted bottom sheet, a comforter, and pillows with shams but nothing else. No top sheet, no blankets. Just a covered mattress and the comforter. Searched the house and found ONE top sheet, nothing else. We contacted Noah and although he responded quickly, he wasn't able to help. Said he was 2+ hours away and couldn't reach the local manager. He offers that I could go to Walmart and buy sheets, he'd reimburse me. But I wasn't looking to go out late at night on vacation to buy sheets! I could've brought my own if I'd known! So I asked him to let me know as soon as he heard from the local manager (presumably they actually have sheets and actual blankets for the house?). But I never heard back from Noah (or anyone else) again. We were there Friday-Monday without sheets, without blankets, and never heard from owner/management again. As I said we've had quibbles with houses we've rented but never anything quite like this. The house itself is nice, we liked the paint colors etc. The stove has a warning light that stays on and one burner doesn't work. The heat for the main part of the house can't quite keep up with the cold - didn't really bother us and the electric fireplace works well, but if you're cold-natured it might trouble you. Upstairs shower is nice, but poor water pressure downstairs. There are a few houses closer to the rental than you might like. But the view and sound of the river are nice, especially at night. In the end, mnagement being so unresponsive to a serious issue, particularly in light of other renters' similar complaints, means you should probably avoid this one.
This cute cabin is comfortable and exactly as described. While you relax on the screened in back porch, you can hear the rolling river gently flowing down below. Nice getaway for families to enjoy the quiet slowed down lifestyle of the Shenandoah Valley.
This was such a cute cabin. We could tell how much thought was put into everything. The decorations and interior were so beautiful and we were all quite impressed. Our favorite part was sitting out back in the screened porch all day/night talking.
Noah was a huge help to us and was quick to respond to all of my emails and text messages even though he was out of the country. Huge thank you to Noah!! Overall, this is the cutest house and we all enjoyed this weekend getaway here.
Amazing job revamping this cabin. Surprisingly spacious, great taste in decorating. We used every inch of this cabin and had a blast. The 2nd floor kids space was absolutely perfect. Maybe work to improve access to the river, but this place really delivered a great getaway.
This cabin is wonderful, even nicer than the pictures show. It has everything you need and a nice cozy living room with a fire place during the colder months. Will definitely be back!
Clean, cute place. We cooked and relaxed after days of hiking and exploring. It was a nice place to spend time.

Several Problems
The house is beautiful outside and in. The property manager was easy to reach. However, the bathtub in the first floor would not drain water. We had no help with this issue other than an apology. One of the burners on the stove did not work at all. The house was difficult to heat and maintain its heat. The front bedroom stayed extremely cold and it’s took two days for the house to get up to and maintain a temperature of 73 degrees. We did enjoy our stay over all, but I don’t feel we received what we paid for over all.
The house was great. It had all the amenities and it was really nice for our kids. It had a fun room for them to use with a playhouse and loft. It also had a great swing outside.
It advertised a steep entry to the river, but we didn’t realize how far down the hill it was to get to the river. This wasn’t a great place for us to fish with our younger kids.
Overall we really enjoyed the house and its proximity to hiking, caverns and vineyards.
We took a family trip to be in the middle of fall leaves and hike in Shenandoah National Park. This home is a lovely spot- about 45 minutes from a number of park entries. (We started south, and drove north along Skyline drive- wonderful triangulation for the location of the home.) The home itself is really such a nice place to stay. It is fun and well-decorated, prepared for a family stay with cooking equipment you may have left at home. The fireplace and views provide for a beautiful and cozy feel.
We had the best time! Before we could get in the car at departure, our kids asked if we could come back again. In the car, our son made sure we would leave a 5 out of 5 star review :-)
The cottage is so cute and cozy, but has more space than expected from the photos. We were very comfortable in the primary bedroom and our 10 year old kids loooooved the upstairs space. The stairs are steep; just a heads up if your children are young. The space up there is so fun, functional, and comfortable! The bathroom is nice and the playhouse is SO cute and special. We have two kids, but you could have several up there, no problem.
The furniture was all comfortable. Since we were there in October, open windows or the fans were great, so we did not test out air con or the fireplaces.
The kitchen is quite small. The appliances are very nice, new, and spacious, but there is not a lot of storage space in the kitchen. It is nicely stocked with basics. We were only there for a weekend and planned easy meals (mostly grilling) so it was fine. The grill was great! We had two delicious grilled meals.
We also loved the screened in porch & back deck. We were out at the firepit every evening. Our kids loved the swing & we also enjoyed the walk (hike! It is short, but steep) down to the river. If we were staying longer we would definitely canoe or spend time on the water!
The location is easy to find, but peaceful. The roads in & out were easy (we previously stayed in a cabin closer to Luray that was up a very precarious steep gravel road!!). There are other houses nearby, but we barely heard anything (occasional car going past) or saw anyone. Nice & restful, but convenient for any activities you want to do! We had been before and returned to two favorites - Showalters Orchard and Fort Valley Ranch for horseback trail riding.
We had to a few questions & the property manager was VERY responsive & helpful. We definitely loved this place & would recommend it! We knew we were taking a risk since there were not any reviews when we booked, but we loved it a lot more than a previous place we stayed in that had tons of great reviews. The owners may want to work out a few quirks (one stove knob seems to be installed incorrectly (upside down?) & the stove light for hot surface stayed on all the time; maybe get better shower curtain liners as the ones there seem to soak up water & the bathroom sink seems to drain slowly). Overall GREAT and in a beautiful area!!!
