"Fantastic location. Ideal for what we needed but also really rural-feeling and peaceful. We found it quiet and charming. We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. It was good to know there are badgers around although we weren’t lucky enough to see anyway. The dawn chorus was impressive. Very pleasant indeed. Definitely will book again if we’re back in the area. "

"The whole process of being able to stay there was awful. I had emails asking me to verify my identity but no correct link sent. I was threatened with a cancellation without refund desite the fact they had not given me the opportunity to do what they asked. Having finally been sent a link I verified and arrived to be told this was very common. At the property Fire Doors were constantly janmed open."

It’s located close to the city centre with a lot of bars and restaurants within a 10 minute walk, but it was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The staff we dealt with were kind and professional even when fire alarms were going off in the morning the next day. "The County is a lovely old building in a good location opposite the train station. There is some expensive parking at the rear. The reception staff were very helpful. The junior suite was well fitted out although the curtains were difficult to close (as the room was so tall) so let light in from the sides. It was absolutely fine for a couple of nights but would have been a bit soulless for a longer period and more suited to someone attending a conference in one of the many rooms they had for that purpose. We didn’t take any meals there so can’t comment on the food. Absolutely fine for our purposes."
