Good Value. Great Location. Nice Owners.
My wife and I spent three nights at Villa Elly's while visiting Dubrovnik after a cycling tour of the Dalmatian Islands.
The 3rd floor unit is part of a multi-unit residence a short distance from the Old Town, and is accessed via an outside stairway. A small private terrace provided beautiful glimpses of the Adriatic and central Dubrovnik. The unit was clean and comfortable. Decor and furnishings were basic but functional and included a washing machine and air conditioning, both of which proved useful during our stay. Since we didn't really do any cooking during our stay, I can't really comment on how well equipped the kitchen was, but it appeared the basics were provided.
Owners Elly and Andrija live on the first floor of the building. Elly personally checked us in upon our arrival, gave us an overview of the unit, and provided helpful recommendations for stores and restaurants throughout our stay.
The location was perfect for our needs. The neighborhood was very quiet in the evenings. Old Town was a 20 minute walk. Restaurants, grocery stores, a small bakery, and a coffee shop were also within a short walk or bus ride (from a nearby bus stop). A small church was only steps away. As the location is on a hillside, all walking involved stairs and hills.
Overall, Villa Elly's was a great value for us given its central location, comfortable accommodations, and welcoming owners. Those seeking more modern or luxurious lodging, however, may want to consider other options.
