We stayed at Villa Lu for 6 nights in September. The house is a very beautiful modern home situated among traditional Croatian houses just outside of Dubrovnik. There was ample space for 7 of us at the villa. The outdoor patio, dining, and pool area was where we spent most of our time. The host, Mara, was incredible to work with and was very helpful identifying a local chef to come to the house, boat tour, and and local tour guide to take us around the old city. While rental cars are definitely necessary for the Villa due to the suburban location, an Uber ride is about 15 minutes into the old city.
I highly recommend this place if you’re looking to stay among locals, comfortable driving places, and wanting a beautiful villa for your group.
There were only two slightly negative aspects of the Villa: 1) There is a very large cell phone tower right outside of the Villa, and there are several
Apartment buildings on the hillside behind the villa. We were told that this is normal Croatian housing and we always felt safe at the Villa, however, it was disconcerting when we drove up initially as that’s not represented in the description. 2) The dryer on the property did not work.
