Learn about innovation in the tech museum, cross the Blue Bridge and admire the impressive façades of the historic villas.

Blasewitz is a large hilly borough of Dresden known for its charming and affluent residential neighborhoods and quaint cafés. It straddles the southern bank of the Elbe River and has several parks and gardens. Stroll along the charming riverside paths and enjoy the enchanting views.

Gaze up at the impressive 19th-century Loschwitz Bridge, which is colloquially known as the Blue Wonder, in reference to its color. Although the blue is fading, the structure remains an emblem of the Blasewitz borough. Cross the bridge into the Loschwitz area for its Dresden TV Tower and the Schwebebahn Dresden, which is said to be the world’s oldest suspension railway.

Return to the Blasewitz side and explore the adjacent Schillerplatz, which is the main square in the borough. Here, you will find many commercial avenues filled with shops and restaurants. Browse the shops in the Schillergalerie Mall and watch a film in the movie theater. Enjoy drinks and snacks from one of the quaint half-timbered inns.

Explore Blasewitz’s many attractions, including the Dresden Museum of Technology and Industry. Its tower offers a panoramic view of the borough. See the museum’s range of intriguing models and displays, which include levitating plates, automobiles and a kids’ corner.

Stroll through the charming streets and alleys of the neighborhood and pick out your favorites from the rows of historic villas. Visit the Kreuzschule, which was set up at the start of the 14th century and is one of Germany’s oldest schools. Stay at one of the hostels and hotels in the area.

The borough is on the southern side of the Elbe River in the southeastern part of Dresden. Ride the S-Bahn train to the Dresden-Reick station or take a tram or bus to one of the many stops in the borough. You can also drive east from Dresden’s city center for about 20 minutes to get here.

Blasewitz is a wealthy borough with excellent transportation links, an iconic bridge and intriguing historic structures.
