"We were prepared for no hot water, no AC, no cell service, but we were not prepared for the overall shady communication, vibes and charges. We booked this hotel to be close to Corcovado, and booked a tour with the hotel. When we asked for details, they said they said that the communication from Expedia was poor, and they only booked our snorkeling tour. We asked to cancel the snorkeling because the national park was our priority. She said they couldn't because they already bought the tickets. Turns out, it was their family member that lived on property that ran the tour. This made her so upset that she went out of her way to make us uncomfortable the entire stay. Very immature. She was the daughter of the owner.
They also tried to charge us for the stay, even though we paid Expedia 3 weeks before. I had to pull up my receipt and credit card transaction to prove we already paid. She still wanted us to pay, but eventually said "Expedia always holds back the payment for a month". So they were just hoping we forgot?
Also, two men walked onto our private porch and stole my husband's sunglasses. He was afraid to say something to them, but we saw them later and they looked affiliated with the hotel. They saw the boat off when we left.
Would not recommend. Breakfast was also poor, but the other meals were pretty good. Restaurant staff were super nice."
"We had a great stay! The team is amazing, the food was delicious, and the view from the room was incredible. The hotel location was close to the beach and nearby restaurants. Be prepared for steps though as it's a bit of a walk up to the rooms."
"Did not see directions and instructions as they were provided the afternoon of arrival and due to slow internet and electricity going out we did not know where to go or what breakfast location was. When we arrived at hotel we were told hostess was at our unit waiting for us but she was not. Bathroom amenities were minimal but adequate. To access bathroom you have to leave main area, go outside and enter another door, going up and down stairs from bedrooms. Not great for wet feet and middle of the night bathroom visits. Electricity was out in the entire town when we arrived so A/C wasn’t working. The windows do not have screens in them so we couldn’t leave windows open for air circulation. It appears that it is not unusual for electricity to go out so being able to open windows would be better. Also the kitchen is not sealed closed from outdoors and we had critters get in our trash in the middle of the night. Not a great design for kitchen. On the plus side the beds were comfortable, everything was clean, and once we figured out logistics location was good. "
"Room was clean although the bed was fairly soft & a little uneven. Unfortunately we were right by the pool with the pool towels (clean & a dirty basket) was by our door so people were often right by our door. Once we returned and a lady was holding a towel up so the other woman could change in front of our door! Talking from those at the pool went right through the window glass. There was supposed to be a 10 pm quiet hour but our neighbors didn’t pay attention to it.
On the good side, the staff was very helpful with setting up taxis & tours as well as general info. Breakfast was adequate with a choice of 5 meals."
"The welcome by being collected on the beach and having our luggage taken to the room was a nice touch. The room itself was clean and the view was gorgeous.
We were disappointed with the general service, particularly in the hotels restaurant. We booked a table on the first evening and it wasn't ready when we arrived, with the staff seeming stressed at our arrival. We were sat down 15 minutes late and the food took over an hour to arrive, during which time we were not visited once by the staff and the tables around us were left dirty. This was despite the restaurant being quite empty close to the end of service.
There wasn't many staff available on site to talk to, and it felt like quite an inconvenience to them when you had a request. This does not include the girl who was volunteering with the hotel who was very helpful."
